Hida beef bone TAKAYAMA RAMEN Matsuri — Restaurant in Takayama

Should have read the reviews first. The menu picture shows the ramen coming with egg, but no egg is actually present in the ramen when you get it. Taste of the broth is underwhelming. They charge for an upgrade to Hida beef even though “Hida beef” is in their name and it comes with one slice…barely enough to get a taste. It was a tough slice of beef at that, definitely not A5 as the menu claims. The only saving grace was that the gyoza tasted pretty good. However, prices are pretty high for what you get. This place is definitely a tourist trap.

Update in response to the owners: nothing hard to understand about the menu, you just seem to enjoy scamming people. When was the last time you looked at your own menu anyway? The pictures of the base ramens show an egg. And look at the picture of the beef I posted…if that looks like A5 beef to you then you need to leave the...

I ordered their standard creamy broth ramen with beef. Honestly one of the most unique and delicious ramen I’ve had. The garnish is regular mushroom stalks with green onions, but they also added red onions which actually works quite well. The broth was smooth and creamy, not too oily or salty. Noodles were regular thin noodles. Overall was a fantastic experience.

They do not sell beer however, and the gyoza wasnt good and took too long to arrive. But you are here for the ramen, and that is what matters.
