ダンダダン is my husband and my favourite gyoza izakaya, we go to different branches often. It was public holiday and we felt like eating lunch at ダンダダン, so we came to this branch in 錦糸町.
It was around 2pm, wasn’t many customers, we got seated right away. There were 4 staff in total, we were glad to see that, because there was time when we came here, only one chef and one waitress, stort staff, so they didn’t even let us in.
We always love that they have quite many different choices of food, and they were all tasty. This time we ordered four different appetisers, coriander salad, fried gyoza, pig leg, tofu with century egg, char siu, and tantan tsukemen. We didn’t ordered everything all at once, because I am a slow eater and I really don’t like my food to get cold, so we kept ordering as we were eating.
The appetisers and salad were good, same as usual. The fried gyoza is always my husband’s favourite, juicy and flavourful. We tried the pig leg for the first time, it was very soft, with a bit of their special sauce, it tasted good. But my husband said the sauce tasted weird, and for me, I preferred eating lots of meat instead of skin. Tofu with century egg is always one of my favourites, it tasted very good but needed more sauce. The Char siu is a must order item, it tasted delicious, a bit crispy on the outside, and it’s very juicy and soft when you bite into it. Tantan tsukemen is my favourite carbs item here, but this time the taste was a bit disappointed, because of the noodles, first of all, the noodles was smaller portion than usual, and they were kind of all broken in small pieces, feels like they didn’t have enough noodles and served us what’s left in the bottom of the bag…
To complete the meal, another must order for me, their vanilla ice cream with fried dumpling skin! I don’t like deep fried food, but this dessert is different, the vanilla ice cream tasted very good, better than normal vanilla ice cream, and eat with the fried dumpling skin together, just heavenly good! I think they added some salt and sesame oil, which makes it taste different.
We had an enjoyable lunch here overall, just hope that they can do better on keeping the food portion and standard the same in...
