Clarke Quay Singaporean Restaurant — Restaurant in Tokyo

I had my lunch twice at this restaurant in a week. The first time, I ordered their laksa and Hainanese chicken rice set, which I think the laksa was not bad and the Hainanese chicken rice was good. The second time, I ordered their Bak Kut Teh and Hainanese chicken lunch set again. The Hainanese chicken rice is consistently good. The Bak Kut Teh on the other hand, I found there’s a little too much garlic and black pepper. I was expecting to taste other Chinese herbs in it, which seems missing . The taste for me is a too “mild” and lack of layers of taste expecting from this dish. Maybe I was comparing with the Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh with darker soup with plenty of herbs taste.

I will revisit this restaurant next time to try their curry lunch set.

Overall, this place has quite a few choices of Singaporean hawker dishes, good place to visit to satisfy your craving. Don’t expect for authentic taste like one would have in Singapore, but with open mind to try new food with good taste, you can still find in this...

With the closure of the Ebisu store, I was disappointed that this Otemachi store were missing a lot of the great dishes. For example, the Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is no longer on the menu.

The menu for Otemachi is greatly reduced and was only available in Japanese with no pictures. What happened to all the restaurant menus from Ebisu store that can simply be re-used?

The Laksa here is still pretty good along with the Sambal Kangkung. Rest of the dishes we sampled were disappointing, like the Samsui chicken is just well Hainanese chicken served with cabbage instead of rice and the Fried Carrot Cake was simply too wet, had too much egg and not enough raddish.

We've recently been to Singapore and Clarke Quay and we're wowed by their warm hospitality and exemplary service. Unfortunately this restaurant sorely lacks both. Maybe it was because we're Europeans but to the staff member(maybe owner) in the tracksuit bottoms and flipflops, we saw you ignore us several times even though we made eye contact with you.
