This restaurant is a nice break from Japanese food. For the Italian purist, they won’t find the food authentic. it is more Italian dishes revisited by the Japanese. Location is in a quite street, a stone throw from roppongi main road, with a very enjoyable terrasse when weather allowed. As an added bonus , when it is Sakura time you have a few trees right in front of you. Probably one of the best terrasse in Tokyo. We started by having a Bellini and good surprise it came with a peach purée and not the peach syrup we encounter so often. Wine list is short but some good wines and decent champagnes. Then comes the warm bread served with a very fruity and nutty olive oil. To start with, we had a white fish carpaccio with bottarga, which was very well balanced with its aroma but also a disappointing Caesar salad which was missing chicken or shrimp and had too few Parmesan or croutons so I would stay away from it. Main course was a margarita pizza way too thin even if I prefer Neapolitan rather than Roma pizza. Penne bolognese was well balanced and quite decent. But the best part was the pastries, I had one of the best strawberry shortcake in Tokyo and tried the mont-blanc before which is also divine . Service is attentive and careful but it is always in Japan. So 4 star for location, drinks, atmosphere and cake but 3.5 stars for the main food. A place to come once...
Read moreWe booked this restaurant via online. Initially, they took us (four adults) to a smaller table. After seating us, no one brought us the menu for 10 minutes nor did someone bring us a stand for my wife's handbag. Basically, we were holding our bags on our laps. After complaining to the manager after the wait, who graciously apologized, he took us to a larger table with a sofa. The atmosphere was similar to many US style upper-mid-level price range restaurant. The service though can be a bit amateur for the local price range. For example, the person pouring water basically reached across the table to pour water for those seating at the other end instead of walking to the unobstructed other side to do so. By reaching across, her uniform almost (within millimeters) of touching our food. They shouldn't be trained that way. The salad, pizza, and main dishes we ordered were good. Would we return to eat there? I think there are better options within the price range, but I wouldn't avoid this place. There were many locals who were dining at the restaurant while...
Read moreFood was so bad here. I expected more from an Italian restaurant in a fancy hotel. I was craving pasta so I ordered that this place being an Italian restaurant, but I had to return the first order. Pasta tasted like it was cooked prior, frozen and reheated. It tasted so bad and the dressing did not taste good. I replaced it with another pasta with spaghetti sauce this time to be safe. Nope, spaghetti tasted like it was coming from my kitchen with sauce direct from a can. Sauce was too thick for the pasta that Ihad to pour water in it to dilute and ate a portion of the order.
I looked at the other tables and same as me, people were just toying their food. So.. not a good experience for me. You can kind of tell if the service is good early on - here bread was so cold, they give olive oil for the bread but not the balsamic vinegar (had to request for it). My experience with other fine Italian restaurants, I always enjoy this portion of the meal with warm bread and olive oil...
