I went to visit yesterday the ancient egyptian collection in Tokyo, Roppongi Hills. I couldn’t book anything from there and had to come back home round trip from Kanagawa. For nothing. It is not only the app Asoview that you have to use so you can buy the tickets but also how things are organized lately with the cashless society. I got a stuff from there to help me out with booking the tickets online but in vain. It was shown unavailable from my phone with an x mark when i tried to order with the application. The machines where you can buy the tickets were closed at 16:30 or earlier even the schedule was clearly open until 18:00 for visitors during weekend. I would have been satisfied even for an hour or less of visiting if i could get inside. They had lots of stuff working there, unfortunately putting ppl in line or offering directions. No one was there to sell tickets. Very...
Read moreWent to the Mori Arts center Galley at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower to see iconic work by Banksy, Richard Hambleton and a host of other iconic graffiti artists, at the MUCA Icons of Urban Art exhibition.
It’s a well curated exhibition, with some of Banksy’s most iconic pieces, including ‘Girl and balloon’ 2004 and the even more famous ‘Shredded Girl with Balloon’ 2018.
Because it was a Sunday it was advised that one should buy tickets online for entry, so had a coffee did exactly that.
The online process of purchasing tickets is a very annoying, protracted affair, but once you’re in the gallery standing in front of these transformational pieces, you’ll be happy you bothered.
It’s on until June 2nd 2024, so if you’re in Tokyo before then, I would heartily recommend that you book tickets and...
Read moreI’ve been to Mori Arts Center in 2022 to see their regular gallery which was a pleasure seeing in person. But earlier this year they were holding a Hokuto No Ken 40th anniversary event. I believe it’s running until mid November so try to make it out to Roppongi to see it. The gallery was also fine with photographs in most areas (that was a win win in my book). If you’re a HNK or 80’s anime fan you’d love this. Plenty of images from the manga with descriptions, large pieces of line art from the anime, and numerous HNK products from its history. They even had large golden statues of Kenshiro, Jagi, Raoh, and Toki. I ended up buying a tshirt and several pieces of merch. Events like this is why I love going to Japan to increase my otaku meter to...
