China Room — Restaurant in Tokyo

Incredibly disappointed with almost everything. This is just a money waste. The food was completely poor, the service was not at the level of a 5-star restaurant, and the atmosphere was nothing special as a 5-star hotel restaurant. You can have a waaaaaaay better Chinese food at a better price in Japan including Chinatown in Yokohama. The service level was too disappointing, especially the young Chinese man who served us was way too rude and made us very uncomfortable, far from the services of a 5-star hotel. The open garden restaurant next to this restaurant has a way better atmosphere than this dark restaurant. Nothing was special at all for our special occasion. Just so sad about everything.

Also! they will charge you the extra service fee of 10% for their poor service outside the lunch course price.

Disappointing Experience - Did Not Meet 5-Star Expectations

Unfortunately, our dining experience fell well short of what we expected from a 5-star hotel restaurant. For the premium price point, the value simply wasn’t there.

Food Quality: The dishes lacked the authenticity and quality we’ve come to expect from excellent Chinese cuisine. Having experienced outstanding Chinese restaurants throughout Japan, including in Yokohama’s Chinatown at much better prices, this was particularly disappointing.

Service: The service did not reflect 5-star standards. Our server, a young man, was unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable during what was meant to be a special occasion. This level of service is unacceptable for a luxury establishment.

Atmosphere: The dining room felt dark and uninspiring, lacking the ambiance we hoped for. We’ve dined at open garden restaurants with far superior atmosphere and overall experience.

Overall: For a special celebration, this restaurant was a significant letdown. The combination of poor food quality, subpar service, and lackluster atmosphere made for a disappointing evening that didn’t justify the...

Excellent food. Blew Amber Sense away. In fact, I had assumed that all Chinese food in Tokyo was mediocre. But the food here was quite impressive. Had the imperial? set. All of the dishes were excellent! Could have used more of a few, such as the duck.

The appetizer plate was one of the stars I'd the meal. Chicken soup was also extraordinary. Although quite heavy.

So why not 5 stars? The price performance as well as service. As another reviewer said, it felt at times like they were purposefully ignoring us. Drinks sat emptied. Significant time between dishes. Wait staff spraying other tables nearby with some solution, which I would expect at a diner, not a high end eatery. Also, prices were high.

That said...I'd go back again. They just need to tweak...

以前より何度かお伺いしているグランドハイアット東京の「チャイナルーム」に、今回はお客様の接待で再訪いたしました。

プライベートな空間でゆっくりと食事を楽しみたいと思い、個室を予約。6名で利用できる広さのお部屋を4人で贅沢に使わせていただきましたが、広すぎず狭すぎず、落ち着いた照明が心地よい、ムーディーな雰囲気がとても良かったです。接待という大切な ocasión にぴったりの空間でした。

お料理は、その日から新しくなったという一番お高いコースをいただきました。さすがグランドハイアットの中華料理、どのお皿もため息が出るほどの美味しさです。

特に印象的だったのは、やはり釜焼き北京ダック　シェフが自ら焼き上げたダックをわざわざ個室まで運んでくださり、目の前で鮮やかな手つきで皮を削ぎ落としてくれるという、まさに圧巻の演出でした。ダックの焼き方についてのお話も伺うことができ、大変勉強になりました。パリッとした皮の香ばしさと、しっとりとしたお肉の旨みが口の中に広がり、至福の瞬間でした。

コース全体を通して、前菜六種盛り合わせから始まり、伊勢海老とトリュフ入り蒸し餃子、濃厚なタラバ蟹と上海蟹味噌のスープ 燕の巣添え、プリプリの伊勢海老の炒め 桜蝦醤ソース、柔らかな牛フィレ肉のブラックペッパー炒め、〆の担々麺に至るまで、一品一品が丁寧に作られており、素材の良さを最大限に引き出していると感じました。品数は多かったものの、一皿の量が程よかったため、全て美味しくいただくことができました。

そして、最後のデザートには、思わず歓声を上げてしまうほどのサプライズが！中華のデザートが彩り豊かにワンプレートに盛り付けられており、お客様も大変驚かれていました。最後まで楽しませてくれる、素晴らしい演出でした。

美味しい料理とともに会話も弾み、気がつけば3時間半もの時間が過ぎていました。

お会計後、タクシーをお願いしたところ、お店のスタッフの方がわざわざ6階から1階のエントランスまでお見送りしてくださいました。そのお心遣いが本当に嬉しかったです。さらに、運転手さんに「お待たせしました」と一言添えられた際には、さすがグランドハイアットのホスピタリティだと感銘を受けました。

今回はお客様も大変満足してくださり、接待は大成功に終わりました。私も改めて「チャイナルーム」の質の高さと、グランドハイアットの素晴らしいサービスを実感いたしました。

近いうちに、ぜひまたプライベートでもお伺いさせていただきたいと思います。特別な機会にはもちろん、大切な方との食事にも自信を持っておすすめできるレストランです。
