Pros: This hotel is just okay for a reasonable price. Decent for a place to sleep. Location is good, very close to the C1 exit of Ikebukuro West exit so okay to take the train even if raining. Good for travelers on a budget. Nothing fancy but with complete basic amenities. Cons: The room is really small. Cannot open luggage. No cleaning/housekeeping done in our room for our entire stay (11 nights) even though it is stated in their policy that "If you stay 7 consecutive nights, you will get 1 free time (of room cleaning) - (see pic)". We encountered a problem when checking in after 11.30pm. In trip.com's listing, it was stated that:"Front desk hours: [Mon-Sun]09:00–23:30; Self check-in: Contact the property for the access code; If you will arrive outside of check-in hours, contact the property 1 day in advance by phone". Since our flight will arrive in Narita late at night and we cannot check-in by 11.30pm, we emailed the hotel 3 days before the check-in date to avail the "self check-in" function but they did not reply immediately. Hence, we called the hotel 2 days before our check-in date and we were advised by the local staff that there is NO "self check-in" at this hotel and that our only option is to (1) check-in at 9am the next day of our check-in date or (2) cancel the entire booking. We do not want to cancel the entire booking since we are staying multiple nights (11N) and the hotel prices have already gone up so we decided to just book another hotel via trip.com for 1 night then check-in the next day at this hotel which costed us an additional of USD100+. Now come our check-in date, they replied to our email (at 8.11pm of our check-in date) that we can use "self check-in". They stated "We will leave the key to your Room on the 3rd floor open, so please feel free to enter." However, at this time we cannot cancel the other hotel that we booked for 1 night that in the first place we booked because of their advice that we cannot check-in after 11pm. This hotel is very poor with communication with their guests. Overall, I will NOT recommend. Better to stay somewhere else with flexible check-in policy especially if you are checking-in late at night...
Read moreConsecutive nights in a double room. The place I thought was good is about an 8-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station.Walk through the underpass from the station, go up the C1 exit, and it's within a 2-minute walk, so it's helpful on rainy days. There are convenience stores and 100 yen shops near the hotel, and there are many restaurants around the hotel, so it is convenient for eating out.The environment around the hotel is quiet, so there was no problem with noise.Bath towels are on the 2nd and 6th floors and are self-service, but if you need them, you can get them immediately (service for people staying consecutive nights), but there were no towels.Separate bath and toiletWe will give you a bottle of 500ml mineral water.Check-out time is 11:00 or moreThe bad place is the bed right in front of you when you open the front door. The room is extremely small. It was the best space to put one carry case for two days and one night. If it's the largest size carry case, it's impossible to put it on the bed. It hadn't been cleaned. There was a lot of hair from the previous guest in the bathroom and toilet, which was disgusting. When I looked at the hotel guide, it said that cleaning should be done once a week. Since the guest is paying for the accommodation, isn't it natural that the room should be cleaned and the sheets changed every day? It's true that the hotel charges are cheap and they are trying to provide services for the amount of money, but that's a different story. Also, although there was a kettle, there were no cups or spoons, so I bought paper cups and spoons at a 100-yen shop near the hotel. It was an auto-lock, but there were times when it wasn't completely closed unless I confirmed that it was closed properly, and there were times when it wasn't auto-lock. Even when opening the lock, it is a key that is difficult to open unless you get the hang of it.I found out that the room is cleaned once a week, and I also witnessed a lot of hair, so I don't think I will repeat it even if the...
Read moreFound on AirBnb, huge disappoinment. I know it's one of the cheaper places, but cheap doesn't mean disgusting. The room was super tiny, even for Japanese standards. It's love hotel originally, and so the room is basically a bed only. No place to walk, no place to change clothes, no place to keep your luggage. Even the tiny floor was covered with filthy black sticky stains. The toilet room had bad smell of sewerage. The toilet seat isn't a Japanese bidet. There is strong smell of cigarettes in the bedroom. You need to get rid of the trash by yourself. My baggage was delayed, but in the front desk they said they can't receive my baggage, and that I must be in the room and wait by myself. And the worst part: when we checked out we saw they place the dirty bed sheets on the disgusting floor outside. Better add the price of lunch and get a way...
