Learn moreWe found another of many 'Yokohama Iekei Ramen' but in Ikebukuro near our stay. We wanted to try this place in Japan as we like the one in California Bay Area. They have spicy ramen. This location is pretty tight. Largest party is for 4 in a small booth. The rest is in a bar like style. You pay individually for your meal and drink from a paying machine then you are seated.
We sat and they asked how we wanted our noodles - hard, normal or soft. I chose normal for my Deluxe Soy sauce base with Chashu (3pcs). The broth was good but salty so I didn't finish the broth but everything in it. It had boiled spinach, 5 pcs of seaweed, 1 soft boiled quail and 1 regular egg.
My husband ordered the large Miso Ramen base with Chashu. His had bean sprouts, cabbage, 1 quail and 1 regular egg, 3 pcs of seaweed but only 1 Chashu. I liked his as there were more veggies but only 1 Chashu. His was a little salty as well. His was cheaper than mine. It was less $7 while mine was less than $8. Still not bad.
This place was run by young men. They kept the place clean. The crowd was all young, too, lots of foreigners and it got crowded as we sat and waited for our food. It's not the same as the states. The menu is different but good enough for ramen so don't expect to be like the one...
Read moreReview from Singaporean. First off, 1 piece of gyoza was missing due to an unfortunate incident in kitchen, but was later replaced by kind staff with an additional service piece. All good there 👍🏻
Starting off proper, we had the Shoyu base and also the Tsukemen. They were extremely flavourful, and is by far one of the better ones we had in Tokyo. I would also like to invalidate any comments from anyone else from Singapore that said this was salty or too oily. Great ramen has strong flavour, and this is just one of those.
Thank you so much...
