Nothing beats Ikinari in Japan. The quality of the steaks in this Ikinari branch in Japan, a walking distance from the Ginza area in Tokyo, is equivalent to eating at fancy steak restaurants in other countries.
Maybe it's the freshness of the steaks or the skill in the cooking of the steaks, but the steaks here in this branch were simply topnotch.
I got myself a 300-gram Certified Angus Beef Ribeye that came with a side salad, some grilled veggies, a cup of soup, and a plate of rice.
The waitress didn't ask me how I would like the doneness of my steak, but when the steak arrived, it was cooked just right. I would say it was cooked 'medium well'. The steak was so delicious I finished the whole thing without any difficulty. It was so tasty and paired with their wonderful white rice, it was a great and memorable meal.
This is the second time I have eaten at this branch in Tokyo. It is a small place with just a long bar that I think can fit 8 to 10 people at a time. There are two friendly waitresses who will serve you, and there are two cooks in the open kitchen - one young junior cook and one old senior cook who looks very experienced.
When I ate here last year, you still had to place your order with the wait staff and pay at the cashier after you've eaten. It was a little difficult communicating with the staff because of their limited English skills.
Now, they've put in a machine where you place your order and pay to get an order ticket, which you just hand to the wait staff. Very easy and efficient system now.
I highly recommend this branch. It is easy to find and its in a nice area where there are other restaurants,...
Read moreA chain of standing steakhouses where you stand around a bar and eat your steak on a hot plate - the stand while you eat concept just migrated from sushi to steak and ikinari has popped up all over Tokyo. Shuts late at 11pm so perfect for the Japanese salaryman who wants a beef option to the usual late night fare of ramen or yakitori after the post work drinking session. This is a no frills steak on a hot plate in ten minutes or less kind of stuff so don’t go expecting Morton’s or Wolfgang’s - perfect for those who want to stay away from carbs late at night and don’t want to smoked up in a yakitori place . You can order sides but it’s not a wide range and the garlic rice is not something I would recommend m. Portions are generous and the meat is adequate . US$35 gets you 300g of the best cut of meat in the house so it’s great...

I saw your kitchen are preparing for closing early before 22.30pm. why dont you change your closed order time to 22.00 pm ? Terrible. You made our last-night in tokyo...
