One of the most chaotic restaurant restaurants my party and I have ever been to. The summer guest chef was clearly out of his debt.
Firstly, the 5 star service stars is to their front of house and the floor staff. They did their utmost best to keep the customers happy. The front of house was so apologetic of what transpired.
The kitchen was clearly struggling with the coordination, tracking and uniformity of the quality food bring prepared and given to the customers. The food was coming out 45 to 60 minutes late per course and they missed a course. Watching the plates of other tables, it was clear that the quality of food were inconsistent. As per the menu, the beef cheeks were supposed to have leeks, only to be replaced by carrots. Given the chaos, the food on the plate was room temperature and the jus had coagulated as its clearly been sitting on the pass for a while.
I really felt for the table infront of us. Not only did their meat course arrive 50 - 60 minutes late, they were only given a slither of meat each, literally a mouthful whilst the table on our right had the same set meal and were given 2 healthy chunks.
Overall, having dined in restaurants at the Mandarin Oriental in Qatar and Singapore, K'shiki's delivery of the summer menu was a disappointment. It simply didn't meet the high quality standards the hotel expects.
I felt very sorry for the floor staff as they were fantastic. But hats off to them, they were the shining light...

I thought the hotel would've been more expensive based on the atmosphere, food and amenities but it was a decent price to me. I walked in and was greeted by friendly, smiling staff and the calming smell of eucalyptus and mint in a dimly lit, calm and cozy ambience. On my right were a row of different wine bottles from all over the world displayed in a glowing class case that I could dispense in a glass any time I want. The rooms made it so hard for me to leave! I got the King suite and the bed was so comfy and clean. The glass shower display was spacious, warm and aesthetically pleasing. something that was interesting to me were that the light switches used picture symbols to control the brightness. A icon of a dinner plate with fork and spoon would be pressed so you can eat dinner in good lighting. A bed icon, well it's self explanatory. There is an tablet where a plethora of dishes and cuisines, drinks and wines and amenities could be sent to your room where you can have a diner experience in your without stepping a foot outside of your hotel room. I ordered mussels, wine, steak and the catch of day all delivered hot and tasty. I booked this place for my wife's birthday and I couldn't have made a better choice. I hope to be back soon! Thank you staff and guests for such a comfortable and...
Read moreAt first, we considered ordering from the à la carte menu but ended up switching to the 4-course classic lunch menu. Overall, the food was good, but there were some minor drawbacks.
The pasta dish was a bit oily, and the pasta itself could have been more al dente. The risotto with wine reduction leaned more toward the winey side than cheesy. For the fish dish, the hazelnuts listed on the menu caught my eye, but I neither saw nor tasted them. On a brighter note, the pork belly as the main dish was very good and satisfying.
One thing that could be improved is the dessert selection. While the pumpkin tiramisu was delicious, it felt a bit repetitive for me and my husband to have the same dessert. It would’ve been nice to share one tiramisu and one ice cream (which comes with the cheaper course).
As for the ambiance, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, with stunning views of Tokyo from virtually every seat, even those not by the window. It’s a lovely spot for celebrations, and the à la carte menu could work well for an everyday lunch.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I’d be happy to return. That said, it wasn’t particularly...
