Came here in a Sunday afternoon for some tea and snacks before heading into the garden. Because it was a Sunday we had a small wait - about 20 minutes but that's expected as it's a Sunday in Tokyo at a popular place. When we sat down we had a nice view of the garden and ordered the matcha ice cream with shiratama and red beans and a matcha tea set. They were both delicious for a reasonable price and we were able to relax and enjoy a nice afternoon for a quick little break. The staff was very friendly and the place was nice and clean. Wasn't terribly loud either for being a bit crowded. For any English speaking people - there is also an English menu. The service could have been more pleasant but nothing wrong.
Clean and relaxing atmosphere. The atmosphere is similar to that of a Ryokan (hot spring hotel); nice smell of wood with beautiful Japanese garden, but it was very cold due to the AC. And although on its own the restaurants atmosphere was nice, in the Kagurazaka area there are restaurants with much better food, better atmosphere, and service.

No signage other than a little flyer in front of the restaurant, and you have to pay 300 yen to enter the gardens before that point. It's a tourist spot and it is pretty out of the way, so the least they can do is post that they will be closed...
