Kyotatsu is a delicious and unpretentious, and dare I say understaded sushi restaurant with a couple of locations in Tokyo, and at Narita airport as well. I have been here twice now and both experiences have been great. I am not an omakase fan, I prefer to order the fish I want to eat, but they do have omakase menus that did look very inviting. Service is very predictably Japanese, as is the atmosphere. More importantly, in true Japanese sushi bar fashion, the sushi chefs try to engage customers in friendly banter. Granted, to enjoy this cultural nicety one must speak Japanese like I do. If you don’t speak Japanese, they will try their best to explain the fish and answer any questions, but that will probably be the extent of your conversation. Overall, the value for the meal is great – the fish is very high quality, and while the atmosphere feels like an upscale Japanese sushi bar, the prices are quite reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you want to experience a decent sushi meal without paying Michelin...
Read moreThis was the best sushi experience I've had in my life. We had set out to find a sushi restaurant where the chef prepares the food across the bar and serves it to you as it's made, not your typical sushi train. Many of the other options we found for this experience online were extremely expensive, asking $300-$400 per person and requiring reservation. Kyotatsu on the other hand was just $130 per person and covered 15 different items, plus three drinks each, with miso and green tea. Incredibly affordable for the experience offered. The food was incredible (so flavourful and tender), and the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Even though we are not Japanese speakers we had no problems ordering as they offer an English menu. It was a little hard for us to find as we are not locals, it is on floor "B1F" of the south tower. The only regret I have is that it was so good that it has ruined my perspective on sushi and I will never look at it the same way again at home in...
Read moreGreat fresh sushi at a reasonable price. This place was recommended by local colleagues as a place to get high quality fresh sushi without spending 30000 yen per person. All the sushi was made in front of us and had a wide variety of different fish and seafood. The only downside was the atmosphere which was very bright and lacked a little ambience. Still would...
