This cafe was a stone's throw from where I stayed in Roppongi in 2016. I still remember the excellent coffee, great pastries, and comfortable seating. In a four week stay, I must have been here a few times a week to start the day with a pastry and a coffee. Consistently good. The prices were not cheap but I found it a comfortable place to start planning my activities for the day or to get caught up with my trip diary. The small courtyard was reasonably quiet and sheltered from the November weather so it was comfortable even on some of the colder days. There was no shortage of seating inside if the weather took a turn for the worse.

I have tried Paul all over the world, and quality can vary by country, but in typical Japanese fashion the Paul in Izumi Garden tower in Tokyo is of a consistently high quality. I recently had breakfast there, and for 1400 yen you get the breakfast (pictured) with a coffee and a soft drink of your choice. It’s an exceptionally good deal. They have a couple of different breakfast choices on the menu and it is served until 11:00am.
