Wonderful food and wonderful people. Albeit we came pretty late (~09:00), they were still extremely welcoming and friendly to my cousin and me.

The vibes are very much chill and since its a family business, you can feel relaxed around them. As some of the reviews already stated, the owners try their best to converse with their minimum amount of English knowledge that they have, which I think is wonderful and very earnest as well as heartwarming (especially the wife/lady: she tried her best to talk to us in English while using the limited vocabulary that she learned and even went as far as to use Translating Apps to convey what she wanted to say). We also tried our best to talk to her in English/ Japanese and even learned a few new words.

Now to the food. Since it was our first time eating sushi in Japan, (yes, we kinda procrastinated on trying out some right away) We didn't really know what great or even good sushi tasted like. However, to our surprise, the Nagiri Platter that he served was very much to our liking and the fish tasted fresh.

All in all, it was a pleasurable experience and we would recommend anyone to come there and try some of their sushi.

We'll most likely visit again if time...

Ambience: Unassuming, small and cozy shop house with wife doing waitering and hubby being the chef. Quiet and intimate place to hang out with friends.

Price Point: Ordered 2x 5000yen for Chef Special (1 Nigiri & 1 Chirashi). Quality does not add up (details in next pointer).

Quality: Quality was average at best, and therefore it does not make any sense to price it at 5000yen for chef special. It is Important to highlight that it is unfortunately far from the 4.9/5 stars given for this humble abode.

Quantity: Pretty decent and filling. Technically 11 pieces served for Nigiri dish and a sizable bowl of sashimi and rice for Chirashi.

Space: A short L-shape row of counter seats in the first main room, and a cozy room with a Kotatsu in the middle; enough to fit 8 and perhaps a few more.

Service: Husband and wife were very hospitable and personable, with the latter being versed in English. Fortunately AND unfortunately, this is the main highlight of the restaurant.

Verdict: 2/5 - Not...

Million and more thanks to dear Hiroshi and his family who own the restaurant.

I came to this place and from outside I thought it was just a house with people having dinner inside, until the hostess invited me in and made a space on bar table. Here began my beautiful evening with the owners and 5 guests that were visiting the place. They spoke very little English but it didn't matter, we still talked about many things and had a great time. And young daughter of the owner helped us out in case we were stuck 😄 I had a Chef's special that was a selection of different kind of nigiri, rolls and miso soup with very nice potato salad made by the hostess. I'd not say I went to a restaurant where I ordered food - no, I have a feeling I was a guest on a family dinner, with kids around and sweet, lovely hosts taking care of me.

Arrigato and...

As much as I hate the word this will probably be the most authentic Japanese experience I will ever have. The place is small but feels like the most welcoming Japanese home. The food is simply god-sent and the host is an artist more than a sushi chef. What complemented our experience were the very friendly locals with whom we’ve exchanged culture shock stories and made them laugh with our lack of chopsticks skills, Japanese table manners and especially our request for a vegetarian option. If you are in the area and can get a spot please visit!
