I visited this restaurant with my girlfriend who is Indian. It was first time for both of us, and restaurant was quite small, but overall cozy. Foods were very good. My girlfriend assured that all of them were legitimate Indian dish just like she had back at home. However, service was the opposite. We ordered several food, and since they were selling Indian whiskey (my favorite poison), I got some as well. When I did, owner spoke to my girlfriend in Hindi while shaking his head, which later she told me "These deprived people (probably meant Japanese or East Asian) don't know when is the time to drink something" It was extremely rude, but I didn't mind that much because I knew perception toward drinking alcohol is very different in Indian culture. However, he did not stop there. After some time, there was another friend joined us, so I moved to sit next to my girlfriend, then he straight out scolded my girlfriend saying "You are disgrace to our culture, and you should know better than bring shame to his place" She did not tell me that then, but this experience became a bit of trauma for her which made her afraid of going to Indian restaurants in Japan in general. I think he will be nice to you, but since I learned the truth of his character, I cannot recommend it especially if you are sensitive about...
Read moreI came here for the Vegan options. Alright food...I ordered a chana masala, naan, and samosas with a ginger ale but they forgot my Samosas. It was okay though because I ended up getting full off the bread and chana masala. It was nice and quite spicy. I was happy with my food although I really was craving those samosas! The main disappointment was just the dirty run down atmosphere. The staff was nice and I had good service but...the walls are covered in dirt and the building interior just looks very run down and unsanitary. It could use a deep clean, repairs, and renovation. If the place looked nicer I would have ordered more and stayed longer but I kind of just wanted to leave. Also, could do without the images of foreign gods everywhere. It weirded me out seeing this stuff in a restaurant. If you worship these gods, it can be done at home, I'm not sure why it's everywhere in a restaurant that has nothing to do with a religion you practice in your personal life, just sayin'. It made me a little...
Read moreDelicious, this place is so good! Everything I've tried here tastes outstanding. I love it.
Don't be put off by the appearance, it certainly doesn't look new or fancy inside, but it's clean. It has a really homey atmosphere, like "a friendly little hole in the wall in my hometown" kind of vibe. The staff are really good-natured and friendly, and sometimes they start singing along with the music. And at least some of them speak some English too.
I've gone a few times, and I get the small lunch set (curry + salad + naan/rice + a drink), which is about 750 JPY. There's a rotating menu of curry types to try each day (chickpea curry, saag paneer, etc.). Everything I've tried so far has been so good, 750 feels like a steal.
There's other lunch options and a more extensive dinner menu as well, I'm looking forward to trying them. And I read that the whole menu is vegetarian, so you can try anything without having to...
