Origins And Upbringing: A Life Raised With Wagyu
The story begins in 1962, when the first generation started this journey as a Wagyu merchant. As a craftsman, he faced the cattle, discerned the quality of the meat, and refined his skills. The family business expanded into meat wholesale, butcher shops, and the food industry, and I was raised alongside meat as the fifth generation. Wagyu was never a “special occasion treat” for me. Since childhood, it was always a familiar part of my life.
A Turning Point Abroad: Shock And Resolve
However, in my 30s, I visited America—and that familiarity was deeply shaken. Cattle from Australia and America were sold as “WAGYU,” and many people smiled as they ate, saying, “Is this Wagyu?” Seeing that scene brought both surprise and frustration. The Wagyu spreading across the world was not the real thing. So, as the fifth generation, I made the decision to deliver authentic Wagyu to the world once again.
What True Wagyu Means To Us
To avoid misunderstanding, let me explain the Wagyu we choose. I personally visit livestock farms throughout Japan and purchase only whole cattle I truly approve of. To me, “real Wagyu” is not the overly fattened, industrialized beef once popular in Japan. It’s healthy cattle raised well, with flavorful red meat that’s tender and full of umami— not just richness from fat. This type of Wagyu is now gaining attention among Japanese gourmets.
A Wagyu Experience For Everyone, Worldwide
To ensure everyone can enjoy Wagyu with peace of mind, I personally select cattle from a few halal-certified slaughterhouses in Japan— only those I have full confidence in. Our restaurant does not serve alcohol, so that it’s a welcoming place for those who refrain for religious reasons or for families with small children. We want everyone, regardless of nationality, religion, age, or gender, to feel safe and included. This is not a place for a specific group of people. This restaurant exists to share the true charm of Wagyu with everyone around the world. Savor each slice carefully—or indulge freely to your heart’s content. We hope to make real Wagyu accessible to the world. That is the mission of Godaime Wagyu Tokyo.

Tourist trap

This place tries to come across as the best wagyu in Japan but is really just a rip off. We paid 10,362 yen for a bowl of ramen and a burger. We sat down before seeing the menu and once the waiter gave his Google Translate spiel and we finally saw the prices, we felt pressured to stay and order. He was very pushy and tried to make us get two burgers and even a steak to share.

The ramen was tasty, but definitely not worth over $50 AUD. The wagyu was just a tiny sliver of meat. The rice that came with the ramen was badly overcooked and tasted like the scrapings from the bottom of a rice cooker. The miso soup was decent.

The burger was nice, but not $60 AUD nice. It came with only seven chips on the side.

When it came time to pay, the waiter was extremely pushy about us leaving a five star review. He asked multiple times, saying he couldn’t wait to read what we wrote. The server himself was nice, but far too pushy for our liking. This left a really bad impression and explains why they have so many inflated reviews.

The floor was greasy and slippery, and I almost did the splits walking back from the bathroom. The whole place felt dirty.

No locals were eating here, only tourists, and I think that says it all. There was only one staff member both cooking and serving, so when we went to pay we had to wait while he went through the same robotic spiel with the next customers who also looked less than impressed.

We wouldn’t come back or recommend it. There are plenty of far better, smaller restaurants that serve exceptional food for a fraction...

I would call myself a burger coinneusser. Ive tried hundred of high quality burgers

I saw this restaraunt with no prior research, and expected a simple small restaraunt and simple small meal for my huge tummy. And so, I went in.

Immediately the amazing staff greeted me with such kind smiles, they made me feel invited and welcome. The restaraunt was cute, and felt great.

They sat me down and told them about their menu, and high quality wagyu meat, handpicked.

They took my order and gave me a 2 page informative paper about their story, and I was extremely fascinated. You'll have to see for yourself.

Then, the burger. I had extremely high expectations for this burger, and so I took a bite. Immediately, the texture, the meat, the taste immediately hit me and made me rethink my life choices. I started tearing up. My high expectations were broken, it was the best burger I've ever had. The wagyu I've had was a lie, all of it, this burger was the greatest.

If you are reading this, go to this spot. If I was rich, I'd come here not just every day, not just every hour, not just any minute, but every second of my life would be spent eating these...

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the stage for what turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The star of the evening was, of course, the wagyu beef—melt-in-your-mouth perfection! Every cut was beautifully marbled, rich, and unbelievably tender. You could taste the quality and care in every bite.

But what truly made this night special was our server, Moa. Moa was an absolute gem—attentive without being overbearing, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about the restaurant’s offerings. She walked us through each wagyu cut and gave fantastic pairing suggestions that elevated the entire meal. Her timing was impeccable, and she made us feel like honored guests rather than just another table.

Between the exceptional food and Moa’s top-tier service, this restaurant has completely set the bar for fine dining. If you’re a wagyu lover—or even if it’s your first time trying it—this is the place to go. I can’t wait to come back and relive this experience.

Highly recommend requesting Moa when you visit. She will make your night...

We had an amazing experience here! We ordered the Wagyu steak, cheeseburger, ramen, and sukiyaki combo — everything was absolutely delicious. The Wagyu was tender and flavorful, and each dish was clearly prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. What truly stood out was the passion behind the restaurant. After reading their story, we deeply appreciated the effort to make authentic Wagyu accessible to Muslim diners and customers with small children. The entire menu is halal, which made the experience even more meaningful. The staff were very friendly and spoke English to the best of their ability, making communication smooth and pleasant. We really appreciated their warm service. The restaurant also provides a prayer room, which is such a thoughtful touch for Muslim travelers. Do note: Only cashless payment is accepted. Highly recommended for Muslim travelers and anyone looking to enjoy halal Wagyu in Tokyo!
