Best Hidden Ramen Spot in Tokyo
I’ve been coming to Toride Ramen Restaurant for 20 years, since I was a child, and I can confidently say that the taste gets more delicious year by year. Despite its incredible quality, it’s surprising that this place isn't booming among foreign tourists. The owner, who worked for the famous Ippudo before opening this shop, remains the same friendly face I remember from my childhood.
The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, located away from the center of Shibuya, but this is exactly why it remains a hidden gem among Tokyo’s ramen spots. Toride serves typical tonkotsu ramen that stands out in its depth of flavor. The owner is very friendly, though his English might be a bit slow.
When you visit, make sure to enjoy the ramen with seaweed, egg toppings. Also, don’t miss the dumplings (gyoza) and, if you’re hungry enough, order the onigiri rice bowl with mentaiko mayo sauce dip.

The food is always consistently good, served with a smile, and you can tell there’s a lot of heart and effort put into the food. Noodles were thin and springy, broth flavourful, and the meat tender! Gyoza’s are cute little burst of flavour with appetising lime chill on the side.
See you next...
