After visiting the nearby sento I searched for restaurants and happened to be standing right next to this very highly rated French place. As a huge fan of French cuisine I was delighted to try this place out. Luckily this was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory.
Everything served was absolutely fantastic. Mussels in a white wine, cream,garlic, and butter sauce with parsley as an appetizer. The mussels being notably tender and flavorful. The little rolls they provide are fresh baked and they are very good bread. Along with this I was provided with a seaweed compote butter which is something I've never had and was surprisingly delicious.
Next came a cheese plate but I took a bite before snapping a picture and then I'd eaten the entire plate because each cheese was of a very high quality, served with a few muscat(sp) grapes, some candied pineapple bits, and a couple figs. Then came the sautéed Takabe. I'd never had this fish before and it was perfectly cooked served on a bed of sautéed white eggplant.. also cooked to perfection. The chef here is exceptionally talented and has constructed an excellent menu combining local ingredients and traditional French cooking methods.
Of special note, the creme brule. Again, torched to camalized perfection but nowhere burnt. I included a picture with the crust broken to display the little black vanilla seeds that had settled to the bottom of the creme and the rich yellow hue.
There are also a few set course menus available at a very reasonable price for what could be a michilin star restaurant. If you live nearby or are visiting from out of town, you should definetly check this place out sometime.
