There is this street in Tokyo known as Monja Street. There are so many monja restaurants on this street, and Moheji is one of the most popular ones. They have three locations, within a few steps from each other, and all locations had lines of people. This spot was quite large, completely packed and very lively. We got a table upstairs. The table was large and had a big grill, and spatulas. It had all sorts of condiments, although we didn’t need any of them as the monja was so tasty as is, very flavorful without any added flavors. We started with a bit of appetizer. We got Grilled Oyster with Butter. Our server brought them over, and grilled them right in front of us. The oysters were very fresh, not fish-y, but plump and very tasty. And the butter always makes anything better. It made the flavor rich and comforting. The first Monja of the night was Mentaiko Mochi Monja. The staff did all the grilling for us, which was great! It was so tasty! Very comforting and packed with flavor! The mochi added extra doughy texture, and the spiciness of the mentaiko was throughout. The batter is made with their homemade dashi, mixture of chicken, seafood, and vegetable. Delicious! The second Monja was Basic Monja with Pork Slices, Special Curry Powder, and Cheese. The combination of curry and cheese is so good. This one was amazing, packed with comforting flavor profile that I so love! The last monja was Seafood Monja. It was a seafood lover’s dream, it had so much seafood of all sorts in there! Octopus, shellfish, scallops, shrimp, etc. The seafood was fresh, plump, and very tasty! This monja is another one of their popular dishes, and I can understand why. The last savory dish was Mix-tama Okonomiyaki. This dish requires extra time to prepare, so it is recommended to place the order earlier. It was sooooo good, certainly felt like we saved the best for last. I mean, all the monja dishes were amazing, but this one was awesome! And of course, we had dessert! Even their dessert is made in a super cool way. We had Anko Maki, a sweet bean paste wrapped in a batter similar to crepe. It was nice and hot, sweet but not overly sweet, a perfect ending to this fun diner. We had such a fun dinner, it was like a dinner and a show! And this was the first time my husband tried monja, so it was extra special for him.

I was excited to eat here based on reviews from tabelog and on Google. I love eating and making okonomiyaki, and was very excited to try monjayaki from a well reputed restaurant. Once we were seated we were left alone for over 20 minutes with no interaction from any staff member. They appeared to be working hard but we were invisible to them. Eventually I was able to flag down a server and placed an order, two drinks, one monjayaki (mentaiko, rice cake and cheese). We then waited 45 minutes, I saw countless orders go out. People were brought in, ordered, were served, ate, and left during this time but not us. Had they brought out drinks, or even just spoken to us to let us know our drinks or food would arrive eventually I would have been placated. It was now 21:30 and we were hungry and upset - so we left and found food elsewhere. Presumably they never noticed our departure either 🤷 It's hard to say why this happened; was it simply that they were disorganized? The staff was quite busy but since others were served relatively quickly once they ordered, it was hard not to feel singled out as being the most obvious foreigner in the establishment. I've literally never experienced such terrible service in Japan, or any country for that matter. Since this road is literally full of monjayaki shops I would strongly suggest going to another one where they are more customer service oriented. Another recommendation: if you do decide to go here, don't wait for your server to talk to you. Be proactive and don't be afraid to self advocate. I guess I was an overly polite Canadian and paid the price

Very nice mojayaki Nice staff that cook the meal for you. I guess you can do it yourself but the steps might be a bit difficult for newbies. A lot of Japanese, not a popular meal or food for foreigners, second time to eat mojayaki (was introduced by Japanese friend) English menu but a bit outdated possibly because of lack of foreigners, better visit with Japanese or with good understanding Japanese. Overall recommended to try. Waiting time could up to 1 hours but a lot of different restaurants selling same type of food. Some restaurants allow pet (please check yourself)

Came from overseas and was recommended to this store. Excellent food & service were provided through my time here. I had mentaiko mochi monja and Yakutsoba. These are great picks for my first try as a foreigner! One of the staff, Kiryu, has been amazing, entertaining and fun! He cooked for us, knowing that we know little about how to do it and share funny experiences, making this meal one of my most enjoyable one Really hope they maintain such great service for customers. I definitely will want to come back again to try other menus.

Amazing food and great atmosphere! Our waitress Rion was very nice and helpful, as well as the whole staff. Thank you very much! We had Monja, Yakisoba, and for dessert Anko Wrap and Matcha ice cream. It was all delicious and so fun to have it cooked in front of us. Two little tips: - even when Google says it's not busy, consider a little wait to be seated (for us it was about 20 minutes) - be sure to take a look at the Japanese menu (with a translator if needed) as it has more choice than the English one
