I liked that there was a public onsen and relaxation area for men and women. They ensured safety of women by having a passcode only given to the female guests for the onsen. I really loved the lounge in the hotel with the library and games - it was a nice air-conditioned space to kill time while waiting for your room or after checkout. There are free coffee and matcha beverages in the hotel (limited hours for matcha unfortunately). The hotel lobby is very large and clean. I left my watch by accident in the onsen but realized it after hours - thankfully a very kind staff member at night time personally escorted me to the onsen (even though it was closed) and allowed me to retrieve my watch so I would not need to stress.
Location in Tsukiji fish market was great. You literally step out and in you're in it (but not at the busiest part so it's quiet). The hotel is right next to a Family Mart as well which is convenient. It is 8 minutes away from the Tsukiji station and 5 minutes away from the Tsukiji 6 bus stop which we took to get to Team Labs Planet exhibit. Besides the fish market, there are plentiful restaurants around but it is definitely less of a night life and bustling place compared to other parts of Tokyo. Just keep in mind that Tsukiji station isn't the best train stop in terms of trying to get to other locations - would recommend staying in Shibuya or Shinjuku for an easier time with public transit. This location just worked well for our itinerary at the end of our trip. The airport limousine bus also does not stop at the hotel or very close to it. If getting to Haneda airport, I recommend going to the Ginza station and then taking the train straight to Haneda airport (direct line). We took a taxi to the Ginza station.
Cons: Checkout at 10am is earlier than usual, which I was not a fan of. You have to pay extra for late check out. The compact twin room was not well-designed for the small space - there was virtually nowhere to open luggage. The sink juts out in the middle of the room, yet there is a separate shower and toilet room that are very large and take up a lot of space. The shower is right by the front door so when you step out, it is just the rooms carpet which is an odd design. I wish the matcha was available 24/7 instead of during just specific times. The onsen was a bit loud. They charge you if you want to check in early even if your room is available. Room was pricey at $183/night for such...
Read moreTosei Hotel Cocone Tsukiji was another great hotel find in Tokyo. First off, the luxury twin room was very spacious by Japanese standards with space for two queen-size beds and a separate sitting area. All the expected amenities were there such as AC, separate toilet and bath, large TV, etc with only a microwave missing. One caveat about the room though is that being modeled after traditional Japanese houses the beds are futon-style and the sitting area has a low table with four zaisu (Japanese-style legless chairs) rather than regular chairs so those with mobility issues or who just can't get used to being so close to the floor may need to look elsewhere. With a large floor-to-ceiling window though the ample space made for a relaxing refuge before or after trips around the city.
Apart from the great room, the hotel also offered an excellent restaurant with a superb buffet breakfast every morning. Food ran the gamut from western fare like bacon and scrambled eggs to Asian selections like grilled mackerel – the fish being fitting since the hotel is located right beside the Tsukiji Outer Market that's famous for its seafood. Apart from it's strategic location in Tsukiji the hotel was also well-situated for trips all over Tokyo with multiple train and subway stations nearby for convenient access to pretty much anywhere in the city.
The hotel had a great onsen that could get relatively crowded but was still a treat after long days wandering Tokyo. An amusing lounge area was also provided just off the lobby with a library, foosball tables, and vending machines.
As standard for Tokyo, hotel staff were uniformly polite and helpful. Service was always great from the front desk to the restaurant and on to the cleaning staff. Taken together with the reasonable price, Tosei Hotel Cocone Tsukiji was a great experience overall and a hotel I wouldn't hesitate...
Read moreThe room was big for a hotel in Tokyo! We could open two medium-sized luggages side by side without our space being severely compromised and there was still a space for us to move and walk about. There's also a sitting area with tatami chairs and tables. Toilet and bath area are separated from each other- no bathtub but there's rain shower. If there is one thing to note, the sink is quite near to the bed and water could splash and get onto the bed closest to the sink..And, not sure if it was just our room but the water flow from the hand-washing sink was a little small unless we turned up the temperature. There is a beautiful and clean lounge at the lobby with books, origami folding area and - really enjoyed the great space which provided respite for us when we had lots of time to spare after our check-out. There's also a drink and ice machine on the first level - free for guests! Drinks such as coffee and iced/hot chocolate can be dispensed from the machine. Laundry room is on the basement with washers and dryers for use. Only accepts 100 yen coins. Location wise, it was more convenient to access the hotel by bus. Otherwise, it's at least a 9 minutes walk from the train station. Tsukiji Market is just right behind the hotel and great for those who enjoy seafood! There's also a Family Mart right beside the back entrance (?) of the hotel. Do note that check-out time is 10:00 and there is an extension charge of 1,100 yen for every hour of extension. Oh, really liked that the hotel provides bed-room slippers that the housekeeping would replace with clean ones everyday. Not common in Japan. But, pillow was quite thin and had to ask for additional pillows in our subsequent days of our stay. Overall, it was a positive experience. and stay at Tosei Hotel Cocone Tsukiji Ginza Premier. Would consider it for...
