**NOTE** I hope you see this post before making your decision. I am still staying at this hotel and couldn’t wait to share my experience, hoping that others with similar concerns will reconsider before booking. First, the air-conditioning is a major issue. It’s centrally controlled and only blows out hot air because of the winter season. I understand it's winter and the weather is supposed to be cold, but Tokyo isn't that cold right now, so the room feels uncomfortably warm even though we followed the staff’s instructions to open the window. Second, the electric kettle situation is frustrating. They don’t provide a regular kettle, only a tiny warmer that heats water to a certain temperature, but it doesn’t boil. Once it reaches that point, you can’t use it again until it cools down in about 20 minutes. A hot water dispenser would have been a simple solution for those who like to make their own tea or coffee. Third, the room is dusty. There’s thick dust in most corners and even on the ceiling. This was a last-minute trip for me because my usual hotel was fully booked. I generally don’t have high expectations for hotels as long as the basic needs are met. My main priority is always location, and this hotel was perfect for that, considering the price. Unfortunately, it falls short in other important areas. It has been the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Japan after numerous visits. The room is small, but that’s not an issue for me since the location is the only redeeming factor. I’m not writing this out of frustration or to discredit the hotel. However, after reading numerous reviews with similar complaints, it seems like the hotel hasn’t made any improvements. I hope my review helps others who share the same concerns.

Ginza Capital Hotel Akane is a gem in the heart of Tokyo, offering a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and exceptional hospitality. From the moment you step into the hotel, the courteous staff ensures that every aspect of your stay is seamless and memorable. The service here is truly top-notch. The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate guests’ needs, always with a warm smile and genuine willingness to help. Whether it’s assisting with directions, recommending nearby attractions, or attending to specific requests, their attention to detail and professionalism set a gold standard. The hotel itself boasts clean, well-maintained rooms that are thoughtfully designed for comfort. The beds are plush, and the amenities cater to both leisure and business travelers. The location is unbeatable, with easy access to public transportation, local restaurants, and the bustling shopping district of Ginza. Despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat after a day of exploration. What sets Ginza Capital Hotel Akane apart is the heartfelt care of its staff, making every guest feel valued. It’s rare to find such personalized service, and it left a lasting impression. This hotel isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience of Japanese hospitality at its finest.

Our very first hotel in Japan during our April/May 2025 trip, the Ginza Capital Hotel Akane, holds nothing but fond memories for us. Its strategic location, carefully chosen to align with my planned itinerary, proved to be exceptionally convenient, allowing us to reach all our destinations with ease and enjoyment. From the delightful introduction to Japanese Onsen upon our arrival, to the trendy exploration of Shimokitazawa Street and its unique Japanese clothing scene, to the almost cinematic experience of an old-style ramen shop run by a perceptive chef-owner, to the scenic Tokyo Cruise Ship along the Sumida River, the expansive superstores of Yodobashi Camera and BIC Camera, the treasure troves of used camera gear at JCII, Kitamura, and Map Camera (where I happily acquired a Tamron ultra-wide zoom lens for my Nikon D850), the vibrant and quirky energy of Takeshita Street and Asakusa, our initial serene visit to the magnificent Meiji Jingu Shrine, and countless other wonderful moments including the Tsukiji Morning Market – our stay here truly set the stage for an unforgettable journey.

General: The Ginza Capital Moegi is a clean, modern hotel, about 1.5 km walking from the Ginza station, but very close to another (smaller) subway stop.||||The rooms: The rooms are small (which is standard for Tokyo), but offer everything you need for comfort - a mini fridge, coffee and tea, a water boiler, usb outlets, a converter/charger cable, a tv, a well-working air conditioner, a small but very well equipped and extremely clean bathroom, complete with 3/4 tub and over the tub shower, plus a sink and toilet (all toiletries are supplied free of charge, including shampoo and conditioner, as well as facial soap and a variety of other products). The beds are a bit hard, but that seems to be standard in Tokyo. ||||Breakfast: Breakfast can be included, or purchased separately. One can choose between "Western" style and Japanese style breakfast; Western style is in-house, while Japanese style is next door. The Western breakfast is not completely "Western", but does offer fresh fruit, small pieces of bread and croissants, scrambled egg, coffee and juice. Do expect many odd items, usually not found in Western breakfasts, like steamed veggies, potato salad, bean salad, mixed lettuce and other unusual things as far as breakfast goes. But all in all, the Western breakfast was nice, not great, but nice. The Japanese breakfast has a lot wider spread of items, but is definitely not Western at all, so only go here if you prefer this type of food or want to try something new; lots of fish, kelp, tofu, rice, etc. Very yummy, but also very authentic, which is not for everyone. ||||The area: The hotel area is relatively quiet, albeit it on a big road. There are many fun local Japanese eateries nearby, as well as a Denny's (American food) right next door. Across the street there is a Family Mart and just across the road nextdoor a Lawson. Closer to the nearest subway station there is a 7 Eleven. ||||Conclusion: All in all, we had a wonderful experience. The staff was hit or miss, but the majority was extremely friendly and most spoke English, which is...

Stayed here four nights in early September. Great sized rooms with a love seat and close to two subways. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the heart of Ginza. Another positive is that there is a free purified water dispenser in reception. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. You can choose to have either a western style or Japanese style buffet breakfast. The bathrooms also come with full and generous amenities, including body and face cleansing oil and lotion.||||The only disappointing thing was that I left a pair of pyjama shorts in my bed and they disappeared. I can only assume that housekeeping accidentally took my shorts when they changed the bed. I informed reception, but reception informed me that housekeeping said they didn't have any shorts and the cleaner said they couldn't find it either. I was disappointed that I wasn't given an apology and with one of the staff I interacted with when I requested an update. He interrupted me and asked me to wait a minute before I finished my story. He made a call and then asked me to sit down. When I asked "okay, but what am I waiting for?" he just told me to sit down, which I thought was quite rude, but perhaps it was the language barrier. ||||I asked reception if they could post the shorts to Australia if they found it and they said no, as they didn't ship overseas. I expressed that that seemed rather unfair, as it wasn't my fault housekeeping accidentally took my shorts, and it's not like a pair of shorts would be expensive to post. When I said that, they said they would make an exception and post it if they found it.||||I was informed on my last day that no one had my shorts. I suppose I'll never really know whether that's true or whether they just don't want to mail it to Australia. Disappointed because those were my favourite...
