Oto Oto Ueno bamboo Garden — Restaurant in Tokyo

We were there last year and the experience was good. So we came back to the restaurant yesterday. The staff were OK (they delivered the service, with nothing wrong or extra passion). The food was not as expected. I ordered an eel lunch set (¥3,500 yen). The look and taste of my eel set were not satisfactory. There was a small flake of spring onion?(not sure if I’m correct but I’m sure it does not belong to the eel set) at the edge of my food container. My husband ordered a tempura set and he said the fish was a bit stinky. Then we both were not able to finish our food. We also had some mango drink and tea, that the glasses were not properly wiped (the mango juice and tea were dripping down from the outside of their glasses, and there was another piece of spring onion flake under my mango...

I chose this restaurant because of nice reviews about the food. The food and the atmosphere were okay, but the terrible service ruined our dinner. The waitress threw plates on our table. We ordered nabe and when she put the ingredients on the table, the mushroom fell down on the floor, but she pretended like she didn't see it. When I check out, my card didn’t go through because of the machine and the mistake made by staff, then she told me that it was impossible to use card and I had to pay by cash without offering trying another card or using app. I refused to pay by cash, then she called the manager and he just accepted my card payment right away. No apologies, sloppy serving, I didn’t feel like I was in japanese...

They have quite a few cubicle zashiki, a table with no chair where you put shoes off like home, which is helpful for families with small kids, who are generally unable to be sitting on a chair peacefully. Indeed when I went for lunch on a weekend, all the zashiki tables were taken up by families of that kind, despite the restaurant being an izakaya, Japanese-styled pub. The foods were fairly good.
