A great Michelin experience! The deserts (and bread) are freshly baked. Excellent wine pairing, done by the in-house somellier (highly recommended to do the wine pairing). Fresh seasonal ingredients. In winter, the highlight for me was the soft cod roe dish. The dishes presentation is also one of the better one we've seen in Michelin Star restaurants. The porcelan vessels are artworks in their own rights. And the wine glasses are some of the more delicate ones we used. All of this added to a great culinary experience.

Update as of 22 May 2025:

Having returned to L’aube after another round of Michelin dining experiences in Tokyo, I am pleased to report that this restaurant remains firmly in our top three. The team has maintained its consistently high standards of both cuisine and service, which is no small feat in the ever-competitive Tokyo dining scene.

A particular highlight continues to be the desserts: beautifully balanced and never overly sweet, they perfectly round out the meal. The fish-based dishes are especially noteworthy—consistently refined, flavourful, and amongst the best we have encountered at Michelin-starred establishments. The same attention to detail is evident in the bread, the wine pairings curated by the in-house sommelier, and the selection of delicate porcelain and glassware, all of which enhance the overall experience.

If there is one area with room for further refinement, it would be the steak dishes. While certainly enjoyable, they do not yet reach the exceptional level set by the restaurant’s other offerings. Nevertheless, this is a minor note in what remains a thoroughly impressive culinary journey.

L’aube continues to set a high benchmark for fine dining in Tokyo, and we look forward to...

Tucked away in an elegant corner of the city, this Michelin one-star French restaurant truly lives up to its distinction. From the moment I stepped inside, the warm lighting, refined décor, and soft French jazz created an atmosphere both sophisticated and welcoming. Each table was thoughtfully arranged to offer privacy without sacrificing the intimate charm that defines fine dining. The culinary journey began with an amuse-bouche that delicately awakened the palate, leading gracefully into a series of beautifully plated dishes. Every course showcased refined technique and balanced flavors — from the perfectly seared foie gras complemented by a touch of fruit acidity to the tender duck breast accompanied by seasonal vegetables prepared with precision. The wine pairing was exceptional, each glass chosen to enhance the nuances of the dish it accompanied. The sommelier’s explanations reflected both deep knowledge and genuine passion, turning the meal into a seamless harmony between cuisine and viticulture. Dessert provided a fitting finale: a delicate chocolate soufflé served with a light vanilla crème anglaise that was both rich and airy. It perfectly captured the elegance and restraint that ran through the entire experience. Service throughout the evening was attentive yet unobtrusive. The staff anticipated needs effortlessly, striking that fine balance between professionalism and warmth. Every element — food, wine, dessert, ambience, and service — aligned with flawless precision, demonstrating exactly why this establishment has earned its Michelin star. It was a dining experience that felt both artful and heartfelt, and one that I would gladly return to for another...

Exquisite French cuisine, reasonably priced with impeccable service.

Japanese x French fusion at it's best using premium produce from all corners of Japan. Each dish of the degustation was delicious with complex flavours and masterfully balanced. A serve of freshly baked brioche is always on hand to soak up the rich velvety sauces in each dish.

Service was warm, attentive and timed to perfection. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable about all the dishes and catered to all our needs.

Restaurant space is intimate, refined and with an open kitchen where it's almost like watching a theatre performance.

Highly recommended.and can't...
