I originally planned on going to the main Rokkasen location for lunch but I didn’t make reservations and they were full already so we were told to goto this location less than 5 minute walk away. Each table feels semi private being separated by bamboo screens. It was a spacious table for 2 people and it’s perfect for the amount of food we were going to order.
We ordered the Tsuki ayce & drink course which includes the standard meats plus crab and lobster and high quality beef tongue, short rib, and sirloin. We also chose to have the sukiyaki with the bbq at no extra cost. Once you choose your course from the waiter you use the tablet to order everything once they bring out the starter course. For around $100 USD per person you can’t get this level of quality for food and amazing service anywhere in the US.
The BBQ meats were well marbled and flavorful and they give you dipping sauces that were tart to cut out the rich and fattiness of the meat so you can keep eating. My favorite was the high quality tongue because of the taste and texture and my partner preferred the high quality sirloin.
Our favorite was the sukiyaki which was a surprise because we came mainly for the yakiniku. There are two options for meat, beef or pork. We just ordered the beef, it was extremely well marbled and the sukiyaki broth brought out the sweetness of the beef. It melted in your mouth and we ordered 4 plates of the beef. We wish they gave us the recipe to make the broth at home, it was the best sukiyaki broth we had in Japan.
Our second favorite was the snow crab. It came on a plate pre boiled and salted, each plate comes with 4 legs, a claw, and a body piece that’s full of nuggets of crab meat. They precut each piece to make it very easy to get the meat out and it was cooked perfected. The flavor was a little salty and a little sweet, it was the perfect dish to give a break from all the rich and fatty beef you eat.
We loved the service provided by the two female waiters, they were phenomenal. They spoke some English and were very friendly and helped explain everything to us. They were very helpful in bringing us our orders, removing empty plates, changing the grill, and they did everything with a smile. They even took a photo of us and printed it to give to us as a souvenir. They honestly deserve a raise and a promotion!
Next time we’re in Tokyo we are coming back, thank you for...
Read moreI dined at Rokkasen in 2019 when I visited Japan and had a really great experience the first time. I decided to go again now in 2023 and everything has declined.
Service: when I first walked in I saw the host man and told him I had a reservation. As I was talking another couple walked in. The host man completely ignored me as if I was a ghost and he addressed the other couple and sat them immediately. This was completely offensive and was the first red flag. Then when we got seated they told us we had 2 hours to eat. Last order was 30 minutes before our 2 hours hit. 50 minutes into our meal our waitress told us it was last call. 1 hour into our meal the waitress then told us “it’s 10 minutes until your time is up, can I bring your dessert?” I noticed the timing because our reservation was for 8:30 pm and she asked us this around 9:30-940 pm. We felt rushed and couldn’t even enjoy our meal. Also, as we were finishing up eating, the waitress kept reaching over us multiple times to grab every single plate from the table basically telling us to get the hell out. How can you enjoy a meal when someone is constantly interrupting every bite to reach over you and grab a plate? Overall, terrible service from host to server.
Food: quality has gone down significantly. All the meat came out frozen and hard. Because you’re grilling frozen meat, the outside gets brown but the inside is still completely raw. It did not have that “melt in your mouth” Wagyu experience. The flame was also weak, so it took forever to cook the frozen meat. By the time the grill finally heated up to cook the meat faster, they would change your grill and you’d get a cold grill that took forever to cook your meat again. Also, the last time I came here the crab legs were very good. Meat was sweet and delicious. This time it felt like the crab legs were just defrosted and there was no flavor. Crab is my favorite and I didn’t even finish my order because it was that bad.
Overall I would never waste money at this business again. It was all a disappointment from...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into this Japanese BBQ and yakiniku restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat—but nothing could have prepared us for the truly exceptional dining experience that awaited us. Every detail, from the ambiance to the quality of the ingredients and, most importantly, the service, was beyond outstanding.
Let’s start with the food. The selection of premium cuts was absolutely top-tier, with each slice of wagyu practically melting in our mouths. The marbling was perfection, and every bite was packed with deep, rich flavor. The restaurant also offered a fantastic variety of other meats, seafood, and vegetables, all incredibly fresh and seasoned just right. The grilling experience was interactive and fun, with the perfect balance of smokiness and char that made each bite unforgettable. The dipping sauces complemented the meats beautifully, and the side dishes were just as impressive—especially the kimchi, which had the perfect level of spice and tanginess.
But what truly elevated our evening was the impeccable service provided by Hina. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, checking in at just the right moments while also giving us the space to enjoy our meal. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly. Her warm and friendly personality made us feel right at home, and her attention to detail was unmatched—she even remembered our preferred grilling style and ensured our drinks were always topped up.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers on every single level, but this place exceeded all expectations. If you’re looking for an authentic, high-quality yakiniku experience paired with world-class service, this is the place to be. We’ll definitely be returning soon, and when we do, we’ll be asking for Hina again—she truly made our night one to remember!
5 stars aren’t enough—this place...
