Singapore Hainan Chi-Fan Suidōbashi — Restaurant in Tokyo

"The food was great and worth the price. However, I noticed that some of the staff were rude, especially the girl with bangs. We've been to this restaurant twice, and both times, her attitude was unpleasant. During our first visit, there were two rude female staff members, but the last time, only one was present, possibly because the other one was absent.

I'm not sure if it's because we're not Japanese, but their approach to serving us felt unfriendly. We were well-mannered and not loud while eating. One reason we didn't talk much during our visit was that their attitude made us feel unwelcome, almost as if they were angry with us. It was embarrassing to ask for an extra serving of rice (even though the menu states that extra rice is free). I don't know if their impoliteness was a tactic to discourage us from requesting more rice.

The female staff member's demeanor was unapproachable, even when she placed food on our table. This experience makes me hesitant to recommend this place to friends who want to try Singaporean food.

Additionally, it felt like they wanted us to leave as soon as possible. We knew the restaurant closes at 3 PM, so we aimed to finish by 2:30. However, even before 2:30, it felt like they were trying to hurry us out.

The rice was unfortunately dry and while it had the fattiness characteristic of Singaporean chicken rice, it was somehow lacking in flavor.

The chicken too suffered from a lack of flavor. The delicate taste of chicken was quite frankly so delicate to the point of almost fading away. It unfortunately also suffered from dryness. The chicken looked so good on the surface, but when bitten into is just completely dry in the middle to the point of disintegration.

When it arrived most pieces of chicken were already falling apart due to the lack of moisture holding it together. I could only hold onto 4 pieces of chicken without them just breaking apart.

The best thing on the platter was the soup. It was pretty good.

I am not sure if I caught them on a bad day or if this is just how it is. From other reviews and the 4.0 rating at the time of writing I expected a certain level of quality which was not represented well in...

I’m from Southeast Asia and I missed having food from home, so I’m really glad that I found this 🇸🇬 restaurant! I ordered the half & half chicken hainan rice and it was pretty good 😊

I thought they would give me steamed & roasted chicken, but they serve fried chicken instead. I could tell the food was authentic bc I heard the chef talking in Mandarin/Hokkien from the kitchen 😆 Also, it came out so fast!

I would def come back to eat the hainan...
