The name of this "BBQ" truck is ironic because it will absolutely take a slice out of your life...
1 hour 40 min wait even though I lined up before opening and there were only maybe seven people ahead of me.
Long uncomfortable wait in the hot sun on a hill with no where to sit and no real shade.
75 CAD for two people, compared to the prices of everywhere else in Japan they are charging too much. There's too many other places that are tastier, quick, and have better value.
When I came to Japan I was surprised how big the portions of rice are. This place was like one scoop squished down so the quality of the rice was destroyed. Very sad.
This is not BBQ. BBQ comes off a grill with char. The food was actually cooked sous vie style (bag heating inside hot water). sure the meat is tender but lacked seasoning. No real char. This is not BBQ and need to be categorized as something else
The ribs were so dry and looked nothing like what you see online. We actually threw away the ribs and did not finish it. This is a good example of social media overhyping and how even if you research places to eat you can still be deceived. True buyer beware situation. The videos are too good to be true and that is the case here sadly.
BBQ sauce is all tomato based. Very weak compared to BBQ sauce anywhere else. More like diluted sweet home made ketchup.
You have to walk to a mall (three mins away) to go to the washroom so be careful bringing kids here. Not kid friendly. I really traveled too far for this kind of disappointment.
You really lose a slice of your life waiting for "BBQ" and you never recover.
EDIT: lol ten seats with seven people infront with one hour and forty min wait…seats were empty. You can do the math. Terrible response honestly. The ribs were DRY. The size was not the problem. The taste was bad and dry. The videos make it look like it’s juicy and moist. That is called false advertisement. This is not BBQ. No grill. No real equipment. That means it’s false advertisement when you call yourself a BBQ truck. This is the worst experience I have had in all of Japan. For a beautiful country with amazing culture and food this is a DO NOT GO HERE AND WASTE YOUR TIME. once again don’t call yourself a BBQ truck. This is a sous vis NON bbq truck. Blocking me on social media because I’m telling the truth. That’s the kind of business this is....
Read moreConsidering the bad reviews from this place I read before posting this, I can only see the main type of user: entitled egocentric 'Muricans, or gringos, that think the whole world revolves around them. Was this a BBQ that could win competing with any BBQ from Texas or Louisiana? Probably not, but Considering this is JAPAN, and their type of food is completely different from what this place offers, the fact that it's A5 Wagyu Brisket, and how Japan's distribution of land is done due to the availability of space they have, being an ISLAND, I think it all works out smoothly. The brisket was amazing! "Can you feel the smoke on the meat?" Perhaps not like a Texan BBQ, but the flavor, the marble, the seasoning it's right on point. I think it's a fusion BBQ between Japanese cuisine and southern US BBQ. I think it's an amazing example to find over 8000 miles or 12000km away from the birthplace of BBQ. The sauces were PERFECT, just the right punch, smoke, spiciness, it was all simply amazingly well done considering the resources and ingredientes available in this area of the world. Now, having the place being at the owner's house and being in the garage, to me, made it feel specially welcoming. Literally, you're being INVITED to go into the owner's house to try his food. So for all the 'Muricans saying it felt cramped and not like a Texan BBQ... guess what, you paid a ticket to fly +10hrs, to come to the other side of the world, not to go to a Texan BBQ. Embrace that and enjoy the opportunity you had to try this amazing place! And if after this you still feel the same, perhaps you should never leave your state, wherever you're from, ever again, because the entire world hates people like you.
This is a must go-to place if you want a different type of food and taste the love and effort this guy is doing to give you the best and probably only BBQ Japan has. Also, have the Kirin Beer, big beer company... but it will refresh your meal with this hot summer! Also, we ordered an extra side of brisket, that's how...
Read moreWent to give this bbq food truck a try because this foodie video on ig was circulating of an influencer recommending this spot for their beef ribs which looked monsterous and appetizing. So I definitely came with an appetite. Unfortunately, that was not available when I went. However, I dont even recall seeing the item on the menu so if it is limited edition then that was surely left out. So really the only next thing I wanted to try was their A5 Wagyu Brisket. It was pretty disappointing after realizing that there was no significant difference from the regular briskets that are usually served at bbq joints. Actually, I'd say that the "basic" briskets that I've had were better because they were juicier, probably due to it having more of a fatty strip. In general, meats that are smoked and slow cooked will come out extremely tender regardless. Overall, the price and portion size was not at all worth it. It was basically one small-medium slice of brisket that has been cut in half. I felt starved just looking at the portion.
Lastly, (cause food is the main criteria) but even the customer service was lacking. It was one guy running the food truck, maybe a worker or the owner, but he did not say one word or even have an expression of greeting when my husband and I approached the food truck - so definitely had an unwelcoming and uninviting mood from the start. I ofcourse still enjoyed the company of my husband for the duration but we both agree that we could have definitely passed this place up and are certainly looking forward to get our bbq fix elsewhere...
