small alley cafe - butter — Restaurant in Tokyo

Went here a few times last winter because its near my home. Decent coffee and nice atmosphere.

Unfortunately it has been "temporarily closed" for more than 4 months now. No sign on the door about the reason. No construction/remodeling going on inside. Usually there are still one or two people inside with all the lights on.

Normally a small business in a high rent area like this could not survive many months of being "temporarily closed". You have to wonder who is paying the bills. It has definitely changed my perception of the place.

So what was once a decent place to grab a coffee is now just a waste of the retail space in the "Shibuya Bridge"...

A nice little cafe that has a laidback vibe and a cozy ambiance. There is counter seating and a couch and other comfortable chairs, with lots of natural light. They have a handful of drinks and sweets to choose from. I just went with the drip coffee and it was good. The spiced butter cream cake looked interesting, and I’d like to go back and try it. Lovely little place with down-to-earth, friendly staff and a nice selection of coffees. The Milk Tea Cookies offered are delicious. The atmosphere of the place is subdued and calming, rare in Tokyo where most cafes of quality are a bit noisy with large groups and the like.
