Socha — Restaurant in Tokyo

We visited the Tea House today and had been in a lot of Tea Houses in Japan and other countries. The Service was Bad, because the customers were responsible for making the Tea or matcha themselves. I even watched other customers, who where Not familiar with the technique to make Matcha and even after saying this the owner did not do it for them. Also the water was way to hot for Green Tea sencha. It was boiling with 90-100 degrees which is too hot for Green Tea and makes the Tea taste Bad. Also it is dangerous for customers to handle unfamiliar Equipment. In other Tea Houses I did experience superb Service and Tea was Always done by professionals who took it seriously. The Tea House Looks nice at first glance, but also the Tea pots are not that good. They look good on Pictures but they are actually of lower quality which you can recognize by the sieve. A beautiful, intimate shop focusing on tea. A lovely smell of wood and tatami infused the interior. The staff member was very kind and carefully explained the flavors and making of tea, so much so that even the two Japanese people in our party enjoyed the experience. The sweets were delicious, tea rich, and cost so low for what we got. Please note you'll have to end up making the tea yourself after the first round.
