I liked when this place was in Tsukiji better and we could just walk there from our hotel in Ginza instead of taking a roundabout train for 30 minutes, but alas times have changed. What really put into perspective for me how good this place is was when we arrived one day to find it unexpectedly shuttered, so we went to one of the other sushi restaurants in the same building thinking it would be of similar quality. The chefs didn't speak to us beyond "no soy sauce on this one", and the tuna was stringy with connective tissue. Not impressed. We made the trek back out a few days later, and found the sushi bar at Yamazaki wide open. We ordered two omakase settings. Each piece was delivered with the perfect amount of Wasabi and soy sauce (or none, if it was not appropriate, as the chef explained), and everything was delicious. It was so good, we went back again on our last day in Tokyo and ordered two...

Amazing sushi! Had a very pleasant time here. Planned on going to sushi dai but turns out i was 5 hours late and needed to be there at 4 am… It must have been 9 am when we walked by this place and noticed it was full with many locals. We walked around some more looked it up and saw great reviews so we decided to go back and give it a try. We are happy we did! Sushi was fresh and amazing. My fiancée had the tuna selection and i had the omakaze. There was maybe 10-11 pieces and it was the perfect amount as I enjoyed every piece. The chefs were friendly spoke enough English and the vibes were great. We had some good conversation with the chefs and a local We wanted to go back the next day but didn’t make it. I followed them on instagram so i will just like their photos...

A Hidden Gem for Omakase Lovers

For an unforgettable sushi experience, Sushi Dokoro Yamazaki is the place to be. Tucked away like a true hidden gem, this spot delivers an exceptional omakase—where the chef takes full control and serves up the freshest, most exquisite sushi of the day.

Each piece is a work of art, showcasing the chef’s precision, knife skills, and deep respect for his craft. From the perfect balance of flavors to the melt-in-your-mouth textures, every bite is pure magic. Watching the chef at work? That’s just as mesmerizing as the sushi itself.

The price is more than fair for this level of quality. If you love sushi, this is an absolute must-visit. Sit back, trust the chef, and prepare for one of the best sushi...

I have been dining in Tokyo fish market since Tsukiji days. My impression are good fresh sushi but rude grumpy chef. Yamazaki brew me away. Very friendly service since you enter. Greet you and they generally try to be nice. Very accommodating to your request. Food is unparalleled fresh. I wasn't sure it was nostalgia, I felt old Tsukiji food taste better. However this is the best you can get right now in Tokyo . Very easy to seek , first store on the left from monorail station linkway. Only cherry on top is that if they could have clam miso soup to top it off the amazing seafood meal. This would made it super awesome.
