During my stay in Tokyo, I looked for that one meal that would sweep me off my feet. But everything was just within expectations, nothing that exceptional. On my last day, i came across this restaurant as i was searching for a bookstore. I did not think much of it, I was not even hungry. Then i got a whiff of their broth as I was passing by and it was calling me in.

The ambiance was light and airy, something that says you are about to try food that has that clean taste but so complex in flavor. From the very first sip it was outstanding. I can taste the fish but there was nothing fishy. You know they made time for that broth.

It was an all female crew on the day I came. The women were preparing the fish that seemed to have just arrived. It was wonderful to see how well they were preparing everyone's meal.

This is the only restaurant I reviewed for my week-long stay. It is perfect for travellers looking for a refreshing taste from a hearty meal in the middle of a scorching summer. Certainly a place to...

The ordering machine didn't take coins (coin slot broken) or credit card, so we used all the notes we had to purchase meals for our children and me while my husband went to find an ATM to get more notes. My children were sat down at a table given to us. When another group came in, we were kicked out of our table and told by a waitress to wait to the side in a loud and humiliating way, with others looking on. She took away the waters I already poured and we had to pack up all our things in an embarrassing process to wait for my husband to return and order more before we could sit down at another available table. My children were tired and hungry and we were waiting for the food we already ordered and paid for at the beginning. By the time the food came, I didn't want to eat their food and did...

We originally planned to eat at Ichiran, but the queue was too long and we didn’t have time to wait. So, we decided to give this place a try — and it turned out to be great! Their signature salt ramen was amazing; I especially loved the broth. The tsukemen, however, was a bit too salty for my taste.

I was curious why the restaurant only had a 3.8-star rating, and as I guessed, it was probably because of the ordering machine. We didn’t have any issues with it, but we still didn’t really like using it.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try — just be aware that some dishes can be...

Dining Experience @ Toka-Atre Ueno. . Opened before November 2021, this store is known for its signature soup stock made from fresh sea bream. . The Tokusei Tai Dashi Shio Ramen / Special Sea Bream Stock Salt Ramen (JPY ¥1,318) is a delicate bowl that's bursting with flavour. . Lightly seasoned with sea salt, the clear transparent soup carries the distinctive sweetness from stewing the red sea bream fish bones. . The noodles are springy, garnished with thick chashu / pork belly, bamboo shoots, green onions, flower-shaped wheat gluten, and a seasoned chicken egg. . Some yuzu lends a refreshing contrast, yum.

I was on my way to the famous Ichiran noodles when I noticed a queue outside a small Japanese restaurant offering salt ramen with sea bream broth. I decided to give it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised! The ramen was perfectly al dente, and the broth was rich with sea bream flavor, without any fishy smell. The finely chopped yuzu bits elevated the soup, adding a subtle citrus touch without overpowering it. I absolutely loved it—definitely worth a try!
