Starbucks Coffee - atré Ueno — Restaurant in Tokyo

I had a terrible experience here. The staff member deliberately ignored me and served someone who had cut in line ahead of me, even though I was standing properly in line and waiting patiently. The large male staff member, with a cold and unfriendly expression, even refused to serve me when I stepped forward. I initially thought he was busy preparing drinks, so I approached the female staff member, thinking it was my turn. However, she gestured for me to go back and line up again from the beginning.

I don’t understand what I did wrong to be treated so rudely. As a customer, I felt completely disrespected — even insulted. Is this how Japanese people treat foreigners? With discrimination...

My sister and I were shopping around at Ueno, she wanted Starbucks drink, so we came here.

There was a long queue, and the female staff who was asking people if they are going to pay with cash or card, kept yelling at customers loudly with no smile, looks very impolite and unfriendly. She also yelled at my sister and I wasn’t happy with that. Other staff were all pulling long faces as well, very bad atmosphere…

My sister ordered a matcha cappuccino, it tasted good, but because of the purchase experience, ruined the mood for us… Not recommended and definitely not...

Had the matcha cake & it was delicious. Had the coffee sample and it was strong. Ordered the hot caramel macchiato on a rainy day & it was perfect. Friend ordered the hot chai latte which she enjoyed. As for the atmosphere, it's very crowded (1030am Sat in July). There is barely any group seating. An old lady was wandering around for a seat- my husband gave her his seat. Besides the lack of seating, it is very clean and the decor is very minimalist. Art is green. Service is awesome. The baristas speak Japanese and coffee English. Very pleasant place to drink...
