The tempura here is fantastic and can be creative. It is a little bit lighter and less sweet than the traditional Asakusa tempura that often uses a heavier tasting sesame oil. I usually have the tendon special. See photos. I also recommend the kakiage which can come with a salsa-like sauce. Really good and different. The atmosphere is very plain, close by is another tempura place with a small but nice Japanese garden. Also, surprisingly for Japan, the service was a bit rude. A waitress was quite impolite. Anyway, come for the food.

Update: I’ve gone a couple times since my original review, but I think the quality of the food is slipping. I was a bit suspicious before, but my last time confirmed my suspicion. The Signature Anago Tempura was not fresh and had a fishy smell and taste. Also, the tempura texture has lost someone of its crispness and the oil was not as fresh. Sorry for this update, hope you can fix this. Maybe...

Our first meal in Japan, got some takeout tempura because we'd been awake for 22 hours and needed to crash hard, but what a great first meal.

The vibe inside had us giddy, between sliding open the wooden door to step into that wonderful smell, the excellent interior decoration which felt very traditional and the staff being ready right away to help us out, and the pricing feeling like they were giving the stuff away, it was definitely a great first meal. Our only issue (and this is mostly our fault) was the takeout containers didn't have holes in them so by the time we'd made it back to our hotel room, the tempura had steamed away much of its crispiness. Had we thought to pop the kids while we walked it wouldve been a 5 star so I'd you're eating there (which you'll want to because gat dang the vibes are sweet) this place is a...

Tempura Akimitsu offers a truly exquisite and refined tempura experience. Chef Akimitsu's mastery of this culinary art form is evident in every perfectly fried piece. The tempura is incredibly light and crispy, with a delicate batter that allows the natural flavors of the fresh, high-quality ingredients to shine through. The accompanying dipping sauce, grated daikon, and salt enhance the tempura's flavors beautifully. The restaurant's elegant and intimate ambiance creates a serene and memorable dining experience. While Tempura Akimitsu is a splurge, the exceptional quality, artistry, and personalized service make it a worthwhile destination for discerning diners seeking the pinnacle of tempura. Reservations are highly recommended, as seating is...

Close to the sensoji temple, decent mix of locals and tourists. English menu and self ordering options available. My only gripe was that when we arrived we weren’t allowed to choose a seat and got the counter seats when there were others available furthermore the seat given to us had some leftover tempura bits (prawn tail) on the chair which was kind of unsightly and the staff weren’t too bothered by it. Perhaps the large number of tourist customers have resulted in some form of burn out. Otherwise the food was good but nothing special that would make me come back specially again.

The Chef set of each type is a decent choice for anyone who is not intimately familiar with Tempura. The batter and the underlying preparations are crisp and fresh. There is very little oil dripping. The Japanese omelette with fish filling is a new concept and it’s delicious. Its hot and tender and almost melts in your mouth. Most people cant eat tempura just by itself, so get a 200¥ rice and 150¥ miso soup for you. This place is perhaps tummy full at about 1800 ¥ per person. Edit1: Degrading the review due to substandard quality. We had stomach-aches after this meal.
