From June 16 to 19, I went on my third trip to Tokyo. I had stayed in Shinjuku during my first two visits, but this time, on a friend’s recommendation, I stayed at Asakusa View Hotel Annex Rokku.||When I arrived in Asakusa, I saw the tall and impressive Asakusa View Hotel. But it turned out my booking was for the Annex Rokku across the street. This is a new annex, ten stories high and smaller in scale. I later learned that it only opened about two years ago, which explains why the design and facilities feel new and neat.||The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient. Within a short walk, you can find various restaurants, UNIQLO, Muji, and shopping streets. Keep walking farther and we can reach the famous Tokyo Skytree and Senso-ji Temple. It is perfect for travelers to explore tourist destinations within walking distance.||The hotel’s design blends traditional Japanese elements with modern style. A lot of wood is used in the design, which creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The lobby is located on the second floor, with not only the check-in counter but also relaxing spaces for guests to read, rest, or work.||My room was on the 7th floor, facing the shopping area. Since the hotel is only ten stories high, I didn’t expect a good view from my room. But because my room faced the back street, overlooking other nearby buildings across the street, the room was a bit not bright enough for me. As it is a new hotel, the room design is modern and comfortable. The room is quite small, which is understandable and normal in a big, densely populated city like Tokyo. Still, it is a comfortable, neat, and clean room.||My room package included afternoon tea at the lounge. Even though the building is not very tall, you can still see Tokyo Skytree from the lounge on the top floor. I checked in around sunset, so I was lucky to enjoy tea while watching the Skytree at sunset. The view was stunning. The afternoon tea didn’t include alcohol or hot food, but just tea, coffee, juice, and some traditional Japanese sweets and snacks. I am not particularly into sweets, but I really admired the hotel’s effort to introduce local snacks to foreign guests.||For breakfast, we could choose between the restaurant on the ground floor in the Annex or the high-floor restaurant in the main building. We decided to have breakfast at the main building, as the view is much wider and farther. As we expected, the view was more stunning and impressive from the main building. The buffet had a wide selection of both Western and Japanese dishes, though it was a bit crowded and noisier compared with the restaurant in the Annex.||The restaurant in the Annex hosts a free traditional Japanese performance. In-house guests only need to order a drink to watch a 45-minute show. I worried it might be boring, as I am not familiar with the culture. But it turned out to be engaging, interactive, and interesting. Performers introduced Japanese culture through dancing, singing, and drama. We really enjoyed that meaningful cultural experience.||Overall, I was very happy with my stay. The hotel is new, stylish, and comfortable, with a convenient location. What impressed us most was how it uses small details, like traditional snacks at the lounge and cultural performances in the restaurant, to introduce Japanese culture to visitors. I definitely recommend this hotel to travelers who plan to...

Read moreVery close to Asakusa Temple and the busy side skirts. Close to train station, with TX line that takes 4-5 min to Akihabara. Easy accessible to lots of different foods around. A grocery store directly across the street if you fancy some snacks and fruits to bring g back to your room.
We stayed in 3 person room, which is actually quite spacious for Tokyo. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly as they greeted us outside the hotel and helped bring our luggage in. The check-in lobby is on the 2nd floor. Check-in process was quite standard and you’ll need your room card to access various floors.
Amenities like brushes, tea bags, coffee, etc are self serve and can be acquired beside the checkin counter and brought back to your room.
The “gym” is also on the second floor, and it is quite small and limited. There is couple of treadmills and an elliptical. Also, only weight is a chest press. That is it. Do expect to get a full workout here. So it is encouraging you to go out and eat your heart out.
There is a free access lounge on the 10th floor that is open from 3pm to 10pm. Highly recommended if you just want to rest at hotel from a busy touristy day. It has free Japanese snacks and non alcoholic beverages. The view is excellent as you can enjoy a cup of coffee while looking at the sky tree tower.
Room was spacious by Tokyo standard and clean. Two double bed and a sofa bed. Firm pillows which is to my liking. Shower and toilet are separate.
Smoking area available on the 2nd...
