Ventured back to the South Park Kerala restaurant in Asakusa, and oh, how the taste buds have matured! The beef curry, jazzed up with a kick of black pepper, was like a culinary drumroll in my mouth. Every spoonful was a peppery parade, reminding me of the days when the restaurant was at nana chome—now they’ve marched to ni chome, and so did I, on a quest for spice and everything nice.
The accompaniments were no mere spectators; the dal was a creamy delight, and the salad, a crisp interlude to the rich symphony of flavors. Pappadum? More like pappad-yum! And let’s not forget the sevai, the cool concoction that swooped in like a superhero to douse the fire set by the curry.
Walking an extra block felt like a fitting pilgrimage for this feast. Let’s just say the journey added more steps on the fitness tracker and more room for this delightful spread.
The restaurant is kind of isolated in Asakusa, trying to establish the south Indian cuisine beyond other average restaurants just providing Dosa or Chicken Vandalu. It does a great job at that, with some amazing Rasam, the dried vegetables, and some stir fried ones, however, given their location, I think they are in the pricier range. Nonetheless, for the hungry with an appreciation for South Indian cuisine, they have Okawari Rice with Sambhar and Rasam for meals. The fish curry is...
Read moreThe food is really taste and the place is so clean.. and the staff in the kitchen was also so friendly except the server.
I must mention about that the server’s attitude towards the customers are really bad. He stand near the table with a pen as soon as we started to check the menu. We were rushed and ordered the food. After made the order, I started to check the menu again to see the other foods and prices for my information. The server suddenly came and grabbed the menu from my hand while I was reading it. I was really surprised because this is the first time I had such an experience. However we enjoyed the food as all of them were really tasty. Finally, we went to wash the hands and return to our table to stay for about few minutes to ready our stuffs. The same person came again and took the bill on our table and pointed the cashier to us to pay the bill. It seems like he ask us to go quickly…. (Restaurant was not busy at that time)
I really want to eat from this restaurant again but I don’t want get treated like that from a server. However I must mention that all the other staff were really friendly and treated...
Read moreWe really appreciate the fact that they took our late entry though we were fairly still at the restaurant 20 mins before closing time. We thanked them enough for that. But later realised that one of the staff members (server) was being sarcastic THE WHOLE TIME. I left the door open by mistake so he could have simply asked me to close it or just shut it all by himself. Not a big deal but he made it a point to make me realise that I left it open. Then again he kept reminding us that they had almost shut the restaurant and they were being generous to serve us food (which undoubtedly was tasty). Japan is a country of warm hospitality and a big smile is remembered for a long time. I would have gone back but I guess I could survive a few days without my favorite delicacies coz the staff members need to mellow down a bit. I am still rating it a 4 only for...
