TGI FRIDAYS Machida — Restaurant in Tokyo

If you have been to a TGI Friday's before then you know what to expect here! Overall the experience was OK. The food we had tasted good and the menu has a good selection of finger foods and main dishes. Service was generally fast and food didn't take too long. Dishes range from onion rings and chicken wings to hamburgers, salads etc. One thing to note: the premises are quite small which compared to other larger branches makes it difficult to avoid cigarette smoke - just something to be aware of if you are a non-smoker! When I visited there were a lot of heavy smokers at the bar and when I enquired about a non-smoking section I was shown to the back of the restaurant. The air was much cleaner there - which is why it seemed to be the defacto "family with kids" seating area. Overall not a bad experience if you are looking for some "Western"...

Expensive? Yes - my burger and fries was a whopping ¥1900. My Long Island Iced Tea was around ¥800, but that's actually pretty standard for the same drink at an American restaurant, and it was well-mixed - something that can't always be said for this powerhouse of a cocktail. Back to the food: it was a bit pricey, but the burger was MASSIVE (aka regular American sit-down restaurant size vs McDonald's), the fries were great, and they gave us Heinz ketchup and mustard, which do taste quite different from Japanese brands, and was the cherry on top for the most authentically American meal I've had at a restaurant in Japan. So, if you're feeling homesick and have some money to blow, definitely check it out. BONUS: the waiter spoke perfect English! I speak Japanese, but man, did I...

I have eaten at many TGI FRIDAYS before in America. I had high expectations coming in, but unfortunately, I was very disappointed!

The staff was consistently unavailable and cold to our family. When asked for additional cutlery or drinks, the staff will simply forget about our requests. It was difficult to get their attention. We even asked the staff to sing happy birthday for my little sisters, and they did not do a single thing for us.

I was also unimpressed by my food. My chicken fajita only had two pieces of chicken! The food is too overpriced for too little fillings. For its price, the food had an average taste too.

I'm afraid we will not visit this...
