Overrated, in my opinion. I love the idea of a place centered around tofu, and the food is fine in general, however in my particular case:
I arrived with one other person. There were empty tables — the staff asked us to wait to be seated, totally fine, but asked us to wait outside (Tokyo summer is brutal) instead of in the conditioned empty corridor (nobody else was waiting), unsure why. No big deal.
We arrived around 8:45 PM, late by Japanese standards but much earlier than the 11 PM closing time. The main options on the menu (main omakase menu, mapo tofu, etc.) were out. Very understandable, but I feel it would have been honest to tell us upfront that what the bulk of people usually order was unavailable.
Apparently each person must order at least one drink, you can't just order food. I may have missed it, but I was unaware of this rule (uncommon from my experience). The rule is fine, but a little more upfront disclosure would feel more honest. Again I may have missed a sign, but I would still count this as a clear negative. Drinks are clearly not the main appeal.
I am usually for gender equality, without a stereotype for who should pick up the bill, and I understand Japan may not be quite so progressive. However, I was a little surprised when the staff chose precisely the moment when my friend (female) went to the bathroom to come directly to me with the bill, without me asking for it. In my experience of years at various Japanese restaurants, the initiative to trigger the end of the meal comes from the customer. It was still much earlier than their closing time.

Read moreDONT COME AS A FOREIGNER, THE SERVERS WERE SUPER RUDE AND RACIST!!! Such a horrible experience, was immediately treated with disrespect and rudeness since going in. Showed zero manner, which made me feel completely mistreated. The server was being complete racist and yelled at us and ordered us when we knew nothing about the restaurant as foreigners. They first condemned us for eating food inside when we literally just brought in a fruit that was already opened but not touched at all. They also ordered us to put the bags underneath in a yelling and blaming was instead of telling us the right place. The servers were so rude (not sure if it’s because we were Chinese) that other tables were feeling sorry for us. We ended up leaving the place, feeling super disrespected. Don’t come if u don’t want mistreatment, and especially if you are not...
Read moreWent because we had a blast eating only tofu in Kyoto, so why not try one in Tokyo, especially when the restaurant name contains "tofu"? They live up to their name, they truly are specialized in Tofu.
Went there for lunch, ordered their special lunch teishoku menu and the chicken karaage teishoku. Yes, real chicken, even in their special menu they put pork in the soup, so this is NOT vege / vegan restaurant. But believe me when I said they know what they're doing with their tofu... choose any menu with lots of tofu and you will find your meal very satisfying, very fulfilling and your body will be happy about it too 😉 Worth mentioning their soy milk panna cotta with coffee is very, very delicious. I don't know how, but they totally nailed it, you won't know it's...
