Tonkatsu Suzushin — Restaurant in Tokyo

I took my fiance here today while on our holiday to Japan. We arrived with the lunch crowd and had to wait a few minutes, which was totally worthwhile. The owner spoke English to us and was very welcoming and friendly, sitting us at the bar and explaining the menu. He recommended the standard Tonkatsu meal to us and it was incredible.

While there he came over to speak to us, ask where we're from (Australia) and a little bit about our trip. His English was great, but he forgot the word for Autumn leaves, so he disappeared for a while to type it into a translator and then returned. It was just a nice moment for me and my fiance who were surprised he took the time to do so.

Nice Katsu-don restaurant open to anyone. Their famous Kake-Katsu-don is 1300JPY with small bowl of Tonjiru (pork soup) and small dessert. The taste is nice with very Sakusaku (crispy) fried batter. Maybe a little bit pricey? One very good thing is that they have a kind of receptionist there who is checking carefully the temperature measurement and the usage of hand sanitiser by the customers. Before the customers enter the restaurant, he always asks the customers not to talk loudly in the restaurant. You can feel safe there even though the chef there was wearing his mask...
