Tsunamachi Mitsui Club — Restaurant in Tokyo

I visited and was entertained in 1990 as a part of the delegation from Atlanta GA attending the IOC meeting at which the 1996 Olympic Games were awarded to Atlanta (the next day after our dinner!!). The beauty of the 30+ acres garden (2nd only to the Japanese Imperial Palace in size and beauty), which is located like an island in the heart of Tokyo in the Foreign Embassy neighborhood, is breathtaking. The food was spectacular; the service was off the chart (i.e. we had 1.2 service people/guest in a very large group); and the wine cellar and wines served were among the best in the world considering from my experience in both public (e.g., La Tour d'argent - Paris; Burns - Tampa; 21 - NYC) and private entities (e.g., BNP Paribas Executive DR - Paris; JP Morgan Chase Paribas Executive DR NYC; The Driving Club - Atlanta). 第7回目を迎えた今回は、全国各地から集めた “50種類の日本ワイン” と倶楽部ワインセラーに眠る “50種類のフランスワイン” を楽しむ会に参加してきました。 会費は25,000円です。

友達と近くのカフェでお茶した後こちらへ。 私達は10名で参加。 受付でグループリーダーの名前を告げて25,000円支払い、2階のウエイティングルームへ。 ウエルカムドリンクをいただきながら、パンフレット見ながらどれを飲もうか決めます。

今年かビンテージはチケット制になり、一人一杯確実にあるとのこと。 さて、赤から攻めますかと話しているうちに、セラー見学の順番が来ました。

ムートン、ロマコン、一番古いワイン、デザートワイン等のお話を聴きながらワインの歴史の勉強です。 そして、綱町三井俱楽部の凄さを目の当たりにしました。

さて、ウエイティングルームに戻り暫し休憩。 セラー見学を終えた最終組が戻り、司会の挨拶が始まります。 そして、ワイン会のスタートです。

もう楽し過ぎて、最後の方はかなり酔ってました。 私は１５杯位いただきました。

この日に出ましたワインは117種類 その一部はこのような感じです。

来年もまた行きたいな。
