When we arrived at the hotel to check-in (as agreed around 3PM) the door was opened but nobody was at the reception. We rang the bell and called a great number of time but nobody came. We even went to the 2/F of the hotel to see if anybody was there. After about 20mn of waiting and calling, we left.||||We returned to the hotel around 5:30PM. As the reception of the ryokan looked very old, with dirty bed sheets on the floor, we asked to see the room before check-in. The room was very dark, with no window and looked old, sad, not very clean with a smell of mold.||||In light with all this, we decided that it was not possible to sleep in such a place with our 2 kids and decided to leave (even if it ment paying a late booking...

Excellent service. Traditional flooring in the rooms. Need to remove shoes before entering. Wooden sandals and socks provided. Private bath, also, in the room.
