We enjoyed exquisite food and excellent service from Mehedi and Kikuchi. We had the Traveller beef menu and the star of the show was the 'melt in the mouth' tasty omi beef. The chefs expertise was evident in the careful cooking and seasoning of the meat. It was quite simply sublime. Whilst this was the star of the meal, the appetisers presented in a beautiful box were as pretty as a picture, delicately flavoured and a joy to eat. My husband enjoyed the sake which had been matched with the meal and I, the non-alcoholic pink fizz, which was also very good. To end our meal, plenty of tea served with Matcha shaved ice and juicy fresh fruit. Mehedi and Kikuchi were very helpful and keen to share their knowledge about not only about the food but Japan. They very kindly organised for my husband and I to walk out into the garden (which we had observed from our table whilst dining) to view the white coy carp. Absolutely fantastic experience. I am only in Tokyo for a few days for a work conference and wanted an authentic Japanese dining experience. Restaurant UNKAI provided not only an amazing chef-coursed menu, but attentive, friendly and helpful service. I have a dairy allergy and the server, Ayako Nishida took the time to ensure everything was dairy free. I wish I could post images because the presentation was gorgeous. Also, Ayako went above and beyond to write down where I could by the roasted and green tea I enjoyed with dinner. I highly recommend dinner here. Everything was fantastic! I know some of the dishes would not be to the taste of most foreigners, but if you like to try new things I highly recommend one of the tasting menus. I chose the Kei menu and it was SO much food for one person! All of it was delicious, well thought-out, beautifully presented, and changes monthly. My server Mehedi was very nice and explained each dish as it came out. I did not feel rushed and had a very en Jo table dinner after a long day of business. The view is very nice with the wall of windows looking out at a beautiful garden. Will definitely be back to try the new menus as true months change....
