Village Vanguard Diner — Restaurant in Tokyo

Although the girl working there tried very hard to provide great service, I would not recommend or come back here again. The first impression was good, as we entered near closing time but the girl welcomed us saying it was "no problem at all!". When we wanted to order pancakes we were told that they couldn't make those anymore, so we ordered a burger set with potatoes and some drinks. The I think it was coconut or pineapple "smoothie" was not even remotely a smoothie: a glass full of ICE CUBES (have you ever in your life seen a smoothie that was filled up to the brim with ice cubes??) with some drink poured over it (the taste was okay though). The set included a 'generous' amount of 4 (!!!) tiny potatoes - which by the way would cost about 350 yen or so when ordered by themselves xD The girl took away the plates and glasses of each item pretty much as soon as we swallowed our last bite, but "please relax and enjoy your meal" and kindly asked us to pay , but "no need to hurry up, please take your time". I don't know if she did that on purpose, but it certainly did not make me feel like we could relax while eating here. Quick summary: cost-performance was poor, food was so-so and the service felt very rushed so I would not recommend this place. I can imagine though that depending on the time of the day and your expectation as a customer you might still enjoy the food here, as the flavours...

This was a really great place with a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and they have books to read so you can hang out for awhile if you like. I went in the evening approximately an hour or so before closing and it wasn’t too crowded. I really liked the decorations they reminded me of home a little bit. As far as the food goes I loved the waffle cheese fries but the burger looked so good but it wasn’t as good as it looked. I’m not saying it was bad I just expected more based on the way it looked. Anyone who's had a hamburger outside of Japan knows that these hamburgers are at best so-so. The ingredients were fresh but the overall taste was poor especially for the price. Around 1500-2200 yen per burger (no sides and drink not included). Also the house potatoes could have been seasoned better. Nice restaurant and atmosphere though, just do not recommend the burgers.
