My friends and I came here because we saw the great reviews for this all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ. However, we left feeling hungry and disappointed - the restaurant failed to deliver an adequate amount of food in a timely manner. The only reason this place has such high ratings is because the restaurant provides a discount when customers post positive reviews.
My friends and I all ordered the "B Course" for the all-you-can-eat experience and 1 drink each - all customers are required to order at least one drink with the B Course or purchase the all-you-can-drink package. Customers then order their food items of choice using a tablet and the food is delivered to the table by the server. Although the ordering system sounds very convenient in theory, the problem is that the 90-minute advertised time (which seems like a lot of time) is misleading for a few key reasons:
• Customers only get 70 minutes to order and aren't allowed to place orders anymore for the last 20 minutes of the allotted 90-minute time.
• Customers are only allowed to order 1 item per person each round. The reason given for this was because the business doesn't want customers to waste food, which is fair. But...
• Most of the food items that my group of 3 people received only had 3 pieces of meat per item, which translates to 9 pieces of meat per round. There were a couple of exceptions but most of the items my group ordered had very few pieces of meat (the meat we did receive was pretty tasty though).
• It took roughly 10 minutes per round for the meat to come out. Some other reviewers have also had this problem, which makes me think that there is a deliberate delay built into the restaurant's system to try and limit customers from ordering more than the restaurant wants.
Essentially, the 90-minute all-you-can-eat experience was less about cooking or eating and more about waiting for the food to come. The total price for the meal was roughly ¥4750 / $30.00 per person, which is expensive relative to other restaurants in Tokyo.
Here's what it boils down to: if you want to make your stomach happy, Yakiniku En Shinjuku simply doesn't...
Read moreI recently visited this canteen and had a great time! The beef was the highlight—its tenderness and rich flavor were truly impressive. While some cuts were a bit on the fatty side, it didn't dampen my overall experience. In fact, the melt-in-your-mouth texture added a decadent touch to the meal.
The service was good; the staff were attentive, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring our grills were clean throughout. The dining area was clean and well-ventilated, with a modern yet cozy ambiance that made it perfect for both casual meals and gatherings. Read moreAs first-time visitors to Japan from Australia, we were eager to experience authentic Japanese yakiniku, and Yakiniku En Shinjuku exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel comfortable despite our limited Japanese.
The atmosphere was cozy yet lively, with the delicious aroma of grilled meats filling the air. The quality of the meat was exceptional—every cut was tender, well-marbled, and full of flavor. The wagyu beef, in particular, was a standout, melting in our mouths with every bite. The dipping sauces complemented the meats perfectly, and the side dishes, including kimchi and rice, balanced the meal beautifully.
What truly made our experience memorable was the attentive service. The staff patiently explained how to grill the meat to perfection and even recommended the best combinations. We also appreciated the reasonable pricing for such high-quality ingredients.
