TL;DR reserve by phone at least a few days prior! cash only (~5k/person depending on drinks you have) better to bring a local friend come early for menu items availability it's super busy so limit is 1,5 hours per group after which they will ask you to leave and will not take more orders

Great Yakiniku restaurant in Uguisudani. The meat quality is one of the best I had for the price which is not super expensive (expect around 5k ¥ per person). They use gas stoves for the grill which I do not prefer as I find charcoal more in line with the Yakiniku experience, but the restaurant is well air conditioned and not heavy with smoke.

Careful, you need to make a reservation prior to going here (I suggest a couple of days before), and the earlier you go, the more items on the menu will be available as they generally sell out through the night.

A bit noisy, but it's what you expect a bit from a Yakiniku place. (You can here the background noise a bit in the video). No English here so if you are a foreigner, bring a...

The hotel I am staying at is nearby, so I thought I would make a reservation in person for 3 people at 9 PM the next evening. An old man in the reception first said 10 PM, and I replied it is not a problem. He then took out a couple of sheets of paper and started mumbling. He told me in English they do not have English menu. I said it’s fine, I can use Google Translate (I have been using it for over 2 weeks in Japan and I haven’t had any problem). He then uttered something in Japanese. At which point, I asked him point blank if he didn’t want me here, to which he said “yes”. I have heard incidents like this in Japan, but I was taken aback by his curt reply because this place has gotten some good reviews. As I left the restaurant, the old man came out and suggested I should to go to some place in Ueno instead. It sounded like an apology but the damage has been done. So good luck if you want to try this place. Maybe ask someone who speaks Japanese to make a...

This is probably the most delicious meat we’ve ever tasted and that’s saying a LOT considering we’re from South Africa. However, while the waiting staff were an absolute delight, the man who takes the reservations was honestly such a pain to deal with. His attitude was pathetic to say the least… we were going to walk away, but decided to go out of our way and make a booking for the next day to come here just to spite the male host who was being so pathetic… Honestly, the food was so delicious it made his attitude laughable in the end, but had it not have been out of spite to book and actually show up, we would have walked away when they said “phone booking only”… so, to the really nasty, childish host, thanks for being rude and making us come back out of spite, only to enjoy the most delicious meat we’ve ever had! To the waitress that did her absolute best to accommodate us English speakers, THANK YOU! You...
