Sagamiya Sushi — Restaurant in Yokohama

I don’t know how sushi can get any better than this. Old school with each piece placed on the counter in front of you, you brush it with soy sauce and then eat with your hands washing your fingers inbetween each bite with the water stream below the counter top.

I had a lot of the more expensive pieces and ate for 2 people, it was very reasonably price all things considered.

People that don’t like it seem to have drunk too much and given very extreme reviews.

Everything about the experience was exactly what I wanted as a sushi loving foreigner visiting a sushi bar next to a fish market....

It is easily one of the best sushi restaurants in a working-class neighborhood of Higashi Yokohama. Super oldschool, sushi is served directly on the (clean) wooden bar counter where water runs underneath to rinse your hands. Always fresh being the fish market is here, best dish by personal taste is any of the crab dishes. Seems popular with both the lunch and after work crowd where regulars often visit and reminisce on both good food...

Great spot for sushi, really nice chef putting in the effort to prepare perfectly seasoned fish with no gluten, so no soy sauce. Wish I could go back, but yokohama was a very brief stop. Very reasonably priced too, given the quality. There are a few options around. Don't be put off by the outside looks of the place - speaking as a tourist here - its all the more interesting once you get in.
