Mijana is an elegant, beautifully-decorated cafe, restaurant, and shisha bar located right next to the hanging lamps near Rainbow Street. The menu offered both Jordanian and international cuisine, but there’s really only one obvious way to go! To start, I had the Hummus Beiruti, which was their creamy, tahini-rich hummus mixed with parsley and garlic, and topped with chickpeas and olive oil. The Quinoa Tabbouleh was a salad of chopped parsley, tomatoes, shredded carrots, and pomegranate seeds mixed with quinoa (rather than the traditional bulgur) and topped with walnuts, which added a nice crunch. Everything was served with warm, freshly-baked rounds of pita, which had a soft, airy texture similar to Moroccan bread. For our main, we ordered the Mijana’s Grill, which came with 5 different types of meat: lamb shish, chicken shish, ground lamb, ground chicken, and a lamb chop, served alongside grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, and onions, and served with a sumac onion/parsley salad and thin shrak bread. All of the meats were juicy and flavorful (except the slightly overcooked lamb chop), and the shrak bread, meats, and vegetables came together in delicious bites. Overall, this was a great restaurant for their quality of food, value, and atmosphere, and it turned out to be one of my...
Read moreThis is the kind of place you simply can’t say no to! If you have dear guests or tourists you want to treat to an authentic and delicious Jordanian breakfast, then Mejana is the place to go. The food is mouthwatering with a wide variety—from eggs and potatoes to boiled eggs, hummus, fava beans, and falafel, all fresh and flavorful.
Don’t miss the omelet and pancakes, and the freshly baked cheese and zaatar manakeesh straight from the oven are a must-try! There’s also a lovely lady baking fresh shrak bread right in front of your eyes, which adds a special touch.
The decor is charming, the seating is relaxing, and the aroma of the shisha adds to the cozy atmosphere. Make sure to take a walk through the other section of the place that connects the spirit of historical Amman in Jabal Al-Qal’a with the modern vibe of Abdali—it’s a visual and emotional experience. You can even try on traditional clothing and take memorable photos!
And the prices? Truly amazing. I honestly recommend this place to everyone. The service is five stars—from the warm welcome at the entrance, to the helpful staff guiding you through the menu, to the incredible chef. Don’t forget to ask for the moussabbaha—it tastes out...
Read moreI gave this place a try in the morning .. based on what I get from people .. first I was hoping to get a normal breakfast but was surprised that they have open buffet only in the morning. So we had to take the experience. Place is old antique but nice, you can set outdoor in the fresh air and enjoy your time, but a lot of flys will bother you because you are within a lot of trees and plants. They have nice display of buffet inside, but perhaps poor in good collection. As the food was cold because it was prepared and left uncovered for ling time. They have nice cooking station that you should go for, much better than the buffet. I did not enjoy the experience over all, because the food quality was not ok and not fresh. Although staff is nice and service is good, but food was not ok for us. Maybe you should try going later where you order your dish fresh. The washrooms were a bit old and not that clean, but maybe because there was a big group of tourists who filled the place. Which is another reason you should be lucky to go if there is no big groups at the same time. I believe if the management worked on enhancing the comments I shared it will be a good place...
