I recently visited Rumi Café with two friends, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. We were three people standing at the counter, placing our order. The cashier was clearly aware of us, and she heard one of my friends mention (loudly) that he was going to get a coffee from Dimitri's and return. Two of us ordered tea and cake, and we sat down to enjoy our time.

A while later, my friend came back with his coffee, and immediately, the staff approached us and told him it was not allowed to bring outside drinks. Now, we’re not kids, and we don’t need to be spoken to in this manner over something so trivial. My friend respected the request, closed his cup, and set it aside without drinking from it. We couldn't leave because we had already ordered Yemeni tea served in a teapot, which isn't easy to take away.

However, what made the situation worse was that the staff repeatedly approached us, one after the other, to remind us about the closed cup of coffee, which was untouched and set aside. This constant badgering was not only unnecessary but also unprofessional. We were paying customers trying to enjoy our time, and the staff’s behavior was intrusive and disrespectful. What were we expected to do—hide the cup among the trees?

When we asked to speak to management, we were met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns, we were told that we were wasting their time, and the manager brushed us off by citing “store policy.” This response was not only unhelpful but completely unprofessional.

Rumi Café may have a nice atmosphere, but their customer service is unacceptable. Treating customers with such disregard over something so trivial is not how you build a loyal customer base.
