I can just say food is terrible. Because the minimum 🌟 is one, I give one. Modern Asian? As an asian can not accept them. At least should not use the original name, such as nasigoren, pat thai, sushi, ramen. People who knows original taste of thoes may have minimum expectations. Sushi rice had a watery part and uncooked part and even you can't tell it is rice. You will see terriblely crushed rice. Nasigoreng, rice is wet and more flavor like korean bibimbap. (I love original korean bibimbap, and it is not even bibimbap) I suspect they use gochujang (korean chili past) although its should be Indonesian food. Rame?? Never. They use very thick noodle. They says udon noodle, But its not even udon noodle. The texture is completely different from udon. The worst is the udon noodle and bok choy on top were uncooked. The chef is filipion. I am wondering if he ever tasted original dishes which he is...
Read moreWhat should staff do when a customer finds a cockroach on the menu? I don’t know what the staff have been trained to do, but I know it isn’t to ignore the situation. When I handed the cockroach over, still crawling on the menu, to the closest member of staff, they took a look at it, and never said a word. They explained the situation to our waitress, who returned with a new menu and neither did she acknowledge anything. A simple apology is the least that could be offered, let alone a complimentary dish. We’d already ordered and my daughter was excited to eat sushi, so we continued. The sushi was delicious and well prepared, but overall service was flat. The service needs to represent the high cost of food, sadly it didn’t. At least Akira hopefully trains their staff better to deal with such disreputable circumstances. It’s on them...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about Akira. It’s not a bad restaurant, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me either.
The nasi goreng was disappointing. Perhaps it’s their own interpretation of the dish, but if you’re expecting something close to Malay-style nasi goreng, this is not it.
The sushi was average. I ordered the Nigiri & Maki sushi set. The nigiri lacked the freshness and vibrancy you’d expect from quality sushi. The dragon roll was also just okay, nothing memorable.
Also, I understand the Japanese aesthetic behind the low seating and it does look beautiful, but with the open layout and being so close to Onza’s entryway and bar, it often felt like people were hovering over us. This kind of seating really deserved a more intimate setting to feel comfortable. That said, our server was attentive and made us feel well...
