GEMMA'S CUCINA ITALIANA — Restaurant in Nairobi

Gemma's Italian kitchen met me with such a beautiful ambience and atmosphere, hence the 5 star for that. The service was good if we were talking about the waiters' attitude. In terms of how long it takes for them to attend to you and get your food, you will wait for some time. The food was really good. The portion sizes were value for money. The calamari was well prepared and seasoned. It was not chewy at all. The fish of the day was well grilled, and the fettuccine was very creamy. The dessert of choice was the Tiramisu. It was so so good I would have taken seconds if I was not...

Food was not good at all. Risotto was too salty, penne arabiatta was not chili at all and penne not al dente. The steak was tough. Only thing that was decent were the starters

Digital menu is really confusing and almost impossible to use. We had to request paper menus.

Wine pour is very small. Almost no adult-friendly alcohol-free options. All the mocktails were chockfull with purées/syrups /juices and way too sweet. Had to ask for the cocktail without alcohol as a work around and even then was too sweet (but better than mocktails)

Gemma’s is a very stylish restaurant nestled in the lobby of Novotel Nairobi Westlands hotel. I’d heard they had the best pizza in Nairobi, so I had to try it - and it was so good! I got the chicken and pesto pizza and can highly recommend it. The service here is impeccable, too - Elias was my kind and attentive server. I look forward to trying more of their dishes (some of their pasta dishes look fantastic too). Thank you to the team for a great first dinner...
