Thorn Tree Café is part of the Sarova Stanley, the oldest hotel in Nairobi and established in 1902. The hotel feels very upscale and luxurious. The Café has an indoor and semi-outdoor dining area, and the outdoor one contains the famous Thorn Tree that is the namesake of the Café and a billboard full of messages. Complimentary flatbread with olive oil and beetroot yogurt sauce was provided. I sampled their seafood spaghetti (1900 KSH) and vegetable pizza (1600 KSH). Their spaghetti was good and had a tangy, savory tomato sauce, but seemed to have very little actual seafood, or very little visible chunks of seafood at least - the seafood could've been blended/mushed together with the sauce. Their vegetable pizza comes with a choice of five ingredients. I chose sweetcorn, mushroom, artichoke, and courgette. I also asked for olives but the chef forgot to put them. The pizza itself was thin-crusted and very delicious. It was perfectly seasoned and covered with a generous layer of cheese. The portion sizes are decent and can satiate a reasonably hungry person. The service is friendly too. Because the chef forgot the olives on the pizza, the restaurant offered us a complimentary fruit plate. Then when we noticed that some of the watermelon was not fresh, they gave us 2 more apples. Overall I enjoyed the food and the experience at Thorn Tree Café. It is less fancy than the Lord Delamere Terrace at Fairmont The Norfolk, but it is nevertheless a great dining spot.

The was dish is a delightful balance of flavours and textures. The perfectly grilled chicken boasts a smoky char, complemented by a creamy, rich sauce on the side adds an extra layer of indulgence. The mashed potatoes, topped with crispy onions, offer a comforting contrast. The artistic plating and thoughtful presentation make this meal a feast for both the eyes and the palate. It's a well-executed dish that promises to satisfy.A good place to grab a lunch in town.

According to the drinks menu, an iced tea costs 600 KES, which in my opinion is already completely overpriced. But I had to pay 700 KES for it. When I asked the waitress about this, she replied snappishly that the extra 100 KES was for the ice. The menu says ‘Classic ICE Tea’ and then you have to pay another 100 KES for the ice? I've never heard anything like that before. It's not about the amount, but the principle. This is what they call a...
