The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) is an iconic skyscraper and a major landmark in Nairobi, Kenya. It's a state-owned corporation that promotes and hosts major business events, including conferences, meetings, incentives, and exhibitions. A striking example of modernist architecture, the KICC features a 28-story cylindrical tower, a conical-shaped amphitheater, and a plenary hall. Its distinct design makes it one of the most recognizable buildings in the country. Situated in the heart of Nairobi's City Square, its central location makes it a hub for government offices and a crucial address for national and international events. The center offers a wide range of facilities for events of all sizes, including the Tsavo Ballroom and various smaller meeting rooms. One of its most notable features is the rooftop helipad, which provides visitors with a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the city. Commissioned in 1967 by Kenya's first president, Jomo Kenyatta, and completed in 1973, the KICC holds significant historical importance. It has hosted numerous international and regional conferences, cementing its status as a symbol of post-colonial African architecture and a national treasure. The KICC continues to play a vital role in positioning Nairobi as a premier MICE...

Rooftop experience is the best view of the city. You are able to have a 360 degrees view of the city. Photography is allowed except if you are recording a professional video you will have to seek some more information. It is quite safe for children and adults and has been secured with Government agencies who also do regular patrols. You use a lift to 27th floor (it takes less than a minute, it was quite a suprise)from ground floor then you climb stairs for 4 more floors. The last two stairs are quite steep so you may need assistance, it would be appropriate to dress comfortable and simple. The building has been in existence for more than 50 years and it is 105 metres tall. It is amongst the tallest building in Nairobi city. If driving there's ample parking space at a fee( confirm with their office, just give them a call) and use the entrance along City Hall Way. The gates are manned by security guards and they will give you directions on how to access the rooftop. It offers space for international and regional conferences and exhibitions. The rooftop has an helipad which is available for hire at a cost. It offers the best...

The 28 storey building fondly referred to as the” KICC” was constructed in the late 1960s and opened its door to the most prestigious global conference of the time to ever come to the African soil. Designed by the Norwegian architect Karl Henrik Nøstvik and our own David Mutiso the construction was done in three phases.Construction was completed in 1973; with the opening ceremony occurring in September 1973 presided over by Kenya’s founding father President Kenyatta. This is the only building that says you know Kenya. It is the Iconic symbol of Kenya. No picture says “this is Kenya” if it does not have KICC in the background. It is the only building within the city with a helipad that is open to public. Any visitor to the City of Nairobi should set their bearings from here since it’s also located in the central business district of Nairobi. Of the buildings built that time, the KICC is the most eco-friendly and most environment conscious structure.
